As Senior Construction Manager, you will lead, manage and coordinate construction activities, put together Construction Phase Health and Safety Plan and advise on buildability and logistics of the schemes. This will involve the management of supply chain including surveys through to main construction on site to achieve the high standards of safety and quality expected of both Bovis and also the client team on the project. You will take responsibility for all activities in the field of construction, including the day-to-day planning, supervision, record keeping, quality control, direction and monitoring of safe operations and construction delivery.\nThis will also include supporting the commercial team with robust record keeping. You will ensure that the project is delivered in a safe, timely, efficient and sustainable manner, whilst achieving project targets, meeting client expectations and enhancing the reputation of the business. Your involvement will present direct contact with the decision makers within the business, offering technical knowledge, awareness, integration, guidance and advice. You will integrate in multi-disciplinary project teams, throughout the procurement and construction process to set up, procure and direct the safe, efficient installation, completion and close out of the project needs and prescribed parameters within budget and within programme.\nKey responsibilities:\nSupport planning logistics phasing of all projects.\n\nPreconstruction development of programme; scoping and project controls set up including delivery management systems and online quality control systems.\n\nRecruit and develop construction teams in readiness for delivery.\n\nLead early enabling and surveying works setting up projects ready for main contracts.\n\nDevelop and encourage an Incident and Injury Free climate on site and in the supply chain and ensure that all health and safety obligations, process and procedures are allocated to and delivered by the construction operations team.\n\nThe Senior Construction Manager is accountable for the supervision, direction and monitoring of day-to-day operations on site, ensuring that all contractors are coordinated and working effectively to the construction programme and detail and delivering the required quality\n\nMonitor the progress of construction works and amend the methodology in light of unforeseen circumstances to ensure that overall completion dates are safely met\n\nDevelop a clear plan of action to ensure contractors adherence to the Environmental Management Plan and monitor performance\n\nActively participate in all team meetings ensuring communication of changes affecting Safety, methodology or logistics\n\nConstantly review the build quality achieved with the team ensuring that the contract’s requirements in this regard are fully met\n\nEnsure build ability issues are considered and given appropriate priority at procurement stage\n\nEnsure accuracy of prelims with regard to safety, logistical issues and the management of environmental risks\n\nProduce schedule of all statutory authorities and manage the process of engagement and notifications as required\n\nSupport the Project/Assistant Manager to establish and manage series of meetings with all contractors to ensure that they are fully aware of the latest design information(instructions, Request for Information answers etc.)\n\nResponsible for planning and development of the site safety strategy, including all aspects of logistics\n\nIn conjunction with contractors, prepare short term programme, linked to longer term deliverables, allowing contractors to plan the week ahead\n\nCommunicate and monitor safe delivery against weekly plan\n\nResponsibility for demonstrating leadership, effective team working and contributing to the development of colleagues on the project\n\nDevelop delivery metrics for all key trades packages and, working with the construction management team, ensure that actual delivery outputs are measured and reported\n\nEnsure that the Construction operations processes and procedures are adhered to\n\nEssential Credentials:\nAppropriate CSCS card for the role\n\nProfessional Construction Qualifications relevant to the role\n\nSMSTS - 5 Day\n\nHave, or be working towards, a related Chartership such as CIOB\n\nDesirable Credentials:\nFirst aid at work\n\nMetal health first aider\n\nEssential Skills:\nWritten and verbal communication to influence and build relationships\n\nAbility to influence and lead teams.\n\nAbility to read and understand programmes, design drawings and details, project scopes and specifications.\n\nDesirable Skills:\nAbility to influence and lead teams\n\nEssential Knowledge:\nKnowledge of the construction process and construction methods including operational safety systems\n\nKnowledge of current construction laws, legislations, and regulations, standards and procedures.\n\nCommercial and financial understanding in the above context -
