With the combination of AI and enterprise content, the opportunity has never been greater to transform how the world works together and at Box you will be on the front lines of this massive shift.\nWhy Box needs you:\nYou will join a newly formed Data Foundations team within Core Data, responsible for building, operating, and evolving the asynchronous data services that support Box’s data infrastructure. The team helps ensure that data remains reliable, consistent, and synchronized across different systems and data stores, supporting a wide range of services and internal teams across Box.\nThe team will take ownership of a number of existing services and work on improving their reliability, observability, scalability, and overall architecture. This is an opportunity to work on foundational, large-scale data infrastructure and help shape the evolution of a new team and its platform.\nWhat you'll do:\nOwn and evolve asynchronous data services that support data synchronization across Box’s systems and data stores.\nTake ownership of existing services and help improve their reliability, scalability, observability, and overall architecture.\nDesign and implement new services and improvements to support growing data volumes and evolving platform requirements.\nHelp ensure data remains consistent and reliable across different data stores and downstream systems.\nIdentify opportunities to simplify and consolidate existing services and improve the overall data platform.\nCollaborate with engineers and teams across Core Data and Box to understand data requirements, dependencies, and technical challenges.\nParticipate in the operation and continuous improvement of production services, including troubleshooting and addressing reliability or performance issues.\nContribute to the technical direction of the Data Foundations platform as the new team and its ownership evolve.\nParticipate in our on-call rotation, available at all times while on-call to help respond to and triage any issues that arise.\nWho you are:\nWe are an AI-first company. This means you approach your work with a growth mindset and find ways to leverage AI to help make faster, smarter decisions that will 10X your impact at Box.\nStrong backend engineer with 5+ years of Software Development experience, ideally working with distributed systems and data-intensive applications.\nDemonstrated proficiency in Java or Scala and experience building production backend services.\nExperience designing, building, and deploying highly available, scalable, and reliable distributed systems.\nExperience working with asynchronous systems, data processing, messaging, or event-driven architectures.\nStrong understanding of data consistency, synchronization, and reliability across distributed systems and data stores.\nExperience taking ownership of production services, including troubleshooting, performance improvements, observability, and reliability.\nComfortable working with existing systems and identifying opportunities to simplify, consolidate, and improve architecture.\nYou have a passion for solving complex technical problems and building large-scale data infrastructure.\nYou act like an owner and strive to do work you're proud of, both technically and in your team interactions.\nBS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent work experience.\nYou speak English proficiently. \n\nMethodology\nAgile management - Scrum\nIssue tracking tool -Jira\nKnowledge repository - GitHubEnterprise\nCode reviews - GitHubEntreprise \nVersion control system - GIT\n\nBENEFITS\nCheck out the overview of Life at Box which include general perks and benefits.\nBox lives its values, with community and in-person collaboration being a core part of our culture.
