The Boyd Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that Boyd products exceed the requirements and expectations of our customers. This individual will assume full responsibility for all aspects of product quality and serve as Boyd’s representative for all customer issues related to the product. The Quality Engineer will take the actions necessary to improve product quality by identifying and addressing product non conformances. Emphasis is on proactively managing customer satisfaction by delivery the highest quality thermal products in the industry.\nKey Duties\nServe as the Boyd lead for product quality and reliability issues for Boyd’s line of System Cooling Products.\nEstablish and implement processes for addressing and resolving customer product quality issues in a timely manner.\n\nDefine quality requirements at the shop floor level.\n\nWork with shop floor management to identify failure modes and drive improvement.\n\nEnsure timely processing of any product non-conformances found at incoming or in process inspection.\n\nIdentify and eliminate cost of quality drivers including scrap and rework within manufacturing.\n\nCommunicate directly with shop floor work cells to improve product quality.\n\nPartner with service team to participate in failure analysis activities, compile data and reduce product failure modes.\n\nDrive CAPA associated with product quality through the organization to ensure that any findings or non-conformances are addressed quickly.\n\nLeads audits of processes and quality systems.\n\nSummarize and present product quality data to Quality Manager monthly.\n\nParticipate in the development of customer prototypes to ensure customer quality requirements are met.\n\nServe as a mentor to the organization for advanced problem-solving techniques (8d, 5why, DMAIC).\n\nDefine inspection processes, requirements, frequency, and sampling internally and through sub tier\n\nDrive improvements at key and critical suppliers to ensure high quality incoming materials\n\nReady to support customers in different time zones.\n\nWilling to travel up to 10% domestic and international when required.\n\nAdvocate for lean, 6S.\n\nAs a member of the Boyd team, perform additional duties as required.\n\nRequirements\nThis position requires a bachelor’s degree in the appropriate discipline and 3 years of relevant experience.\n\nPrior experience with machining, welding, brazing, assembly-based manufacturing, lean, six sigma and 6S.\n\nExperience operating in an ISO9001 quality environment. Experience operating in an AS9100 quality environment a plus.\n\nStrong interpersonal skills. Ability to work with and manage both suppliers and internal customers.\n\nDemonstrated record of leading multiple projects while working with stakeholders across multiple functions\n\nStrong troubleshooting skills\n\nFamiliarity with root cause determination tools such as 5-Why, Fishbone Diagrams, etc.\n\nCore skills/tools should include: Microsoft Office, 8D problem solving, GD & T, Six Sigma, Minitab (statistical analysis), SPC, FMEA\n\nExperience with implementation of statistical methods and their application. Potential applications may be, capability studies, gage repeatability and reproducibility (gage R & R), X-bar and R charts is a plus.\n\nExperience with brazing, plumbing, pumps, refrigeration, and troubleshooting of electro-mechanical parts is desirable.\n\nReporting\nThe Quality Engineer plays a key role within the Boyd organization. The Quality Engineer is a member of the Quality Team reporting to the Quality Manager.\nBase Compensation: $90,000-$100,000, bonus eligible.
