On-call as needed\nMAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:\nParticipates in the production, maintenance, and clean-up of grounds and facilities.\nMaintains plot garden areas, including tilling, planting, and fertilizing; may plan and order supplies for produce gardens.\n\nMaintains landscaped areas, flower beds, and interior plants, and assists with habitat and lake maintenance and with greenhouse operations.\n\nMaintains fruit tree and orchard production including pruning trees for proper growth and repair and removes hazardous trees and limbs.\n\nControls growth of unwanted species of weeds and grass by weeding, cultivating, and trimming; identifies the need for, applies, maintains, and properly disposes of chemical pesticide.\n\nOperates grounds maintenance equipment including zero turn and large area mowers, tractors, front end loaders, and chainsaws from the basket of a boom truck; drives Boys Town vehicle as needed to complete duties of the job.\n\nMaintains equipment, including sharpening blades, replacing belts and bearings, and completing tune ups.\n\nPrunes trees for proper growth and removes trees as needed.\n\nPerforms general building maintenance and removes snow, ice, and other debris as needed; utilizes plow, loader, blade, blower and shovel.\n\nSupervises youth grounds and landscaping projects and activities as needed.\n\nKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:\nKnowledge of a broad range of landscaping practices, techniques, tools, equipment, and safety procedures. Knowledge of an extensive variety of regional plant life and livestock.\n\nAbility to identify weeds and lawn diseases and determine proper application of chemicals.\n\nSkills in installation and maintenance of landscaping plants and materials.\n\nAbility to communicate productively and to organize assigned tasks for completion.\n\nAbility to understand and interpret written and verbal instructions.\n\nREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:\nPrevious experience in grounds maintenance or agriculture required.\n\nMinimum 18 years of age required.\n\nPossess a valid driver's license with a good driving record required.\n\nPass an annual Motor Vehicle Registration (MVR) check required..\n\nOn-call (continuously or rotationally) to provide support. Available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays if needed required.\n\nState of Nebraska certified pesticide and herbicide applicator license is required within 90 days of hire required.\n\nCertified in-house, post-hire to operate boom truck, forklift, and front-end loader required.\n\nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:\nHigh school diploma or equivalent is preferred.\n\nOther Duties: This job description incorporates the essential functions and duties required for this position. Walking, standing, reaching, bending, digging, and may be required to work at heights of 10 feet or more.The worker is subject to both indoor and outdoor conditions in temperatures below freezing and above 100 degrees for extended periods of time.
