Working as part of the Lab Automation, LIMS & Data Management team.\nThe role works closely with laboratory users, digital teams, data specialists, suppliers and project teams to ensure laboratory data is captured, structured, governed and accessible throughout its lifecycle. The analyst supports the implementation of LIMS, master data, workflows, integrations and data standards that improve laboratory efficiency, compliance, data quality and digital enablement.\nKey Accountabilities\nFacilitate requirements gathering activities through workshops, interviews, process mapping, and stakeholder engagement.\nEngage with scientists, laboratory personnel, and domain experts (SMEs) to understand current laboratory workflows, sample management processes, data requirements, and operational challenges, to translate this into processes and workflows for the new site.\nIdentify and develop use cases for AI Innovation. Support development of reporting and analytics capabilities that improve decision making.\nSupport the definition of project scope, objectives, requirements, and success criteria for LIMS deployment. Document business, process, functional, integration, and reporting requirements using agreed standards and methodologies.\nDevelop and maintain current-state and future-state process maps covering laboratory operations and supporting digital workflows.\nAnalyse information gathered to find opportunities for standardisation, digitisation, process simplification, and operational efficiency.\nWork closely with the Lab Automation Specialist and the Automation workstream to ensure LIMS, robotics, orchestration platforms, equipment integrations, and laboratory processes are designed and deployed as a connected end-to-end solution.\nCollaborate with wider team including Data Management specialists, Digital Security, Digital Delivery, system integrators, and vendors to define integrated laboratory workflows and data flows.\nSupport solution configuration, testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), deployment, and operational handover activities. Support user adoption activities to drive successful implementation and sustainable business outcomes.\nMaintain traceability of requirements, actions, risks, assumptions, and decisions throughout project delivery.\nSupport with the definition of the Data strategy for Downstream R&D and the new Technology Centre. Support implementation of data principles and data management best practices.\nWork with wider team to understand current data challenges with particular focus on Digital Science and Modelling activities.\nSupport data governance and taxonomy activities to improve data quality, integrity, traceability and compliance.\nSupport integration between LIMS, laboratory instruments, automation platforms, ELN, ERP and other enterprise systems.\nAssist with testing and validation of data interfaces and workflows, to ensure laboratory data is transferred accurately and reliably between systems.\nEssential Education & Experience\nBachelor’s degree as a minimum in science, engineering or a related discipline plus 7 years relevant experience.\nExperience in laboratory operations, business analysis, digital transformation, informatics, or another technical environment.\nExperience gathering, documenting, and managing business and user requirements.\nStrong analytical, process mapping, and problem-solving skills.\nExperience working with stakeholders and facilitating discussions across multidisciplinary teams.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.\nProject management experience\nExperience working with scientific, laboratory or enterprise data.\nUnderstanding of data quality, data governance and master data concepts.\nKnowledge of laboratory data lifecycles and regulatory data requirements.\nDesirable Education & Experience\n\nExperience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), ELN, SDMS, or other laboratory informatics platforms.\nUnderstanding of laboratory workflows, sample lifecycle management, testing processes, and scientific data management.\nKnowledge of laboratory automation, robotics, equipment integration, or orchestration platforms.\nExperience supporting software implementation, testing, validation, or deployment activities.\nFamiliarity with Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid project delivery approaches.\nExperience working with technology suppliers, vendors, or system integrators.\nExperience with laboratory data management platforms, ELN or scientific informatics systems.\nKnowledge of data governance frameworks and metadata management.\nExperience with Power BI, SQL, Python or other data analysis tools.\nExperience supporting AI, analytics or digital transformation initiatives through structured data management.\n\nLeadership Expectations\nLives the bp values of Safety, Respect, Excellence, Courage, and One Team.\nEstablishes effective relationships and collaborates across disciplines, functions, and geographies.\nDemonstrates curiosity, learning agility, and a continuous improvement attitude.\nDelivers high-quality outcomes with solid attention to detail and customer focus.\nSupports safe, reliable, and value-driven delivery of digital laboratory solutions.\n\nTravel Requirement: Occasional domestic and international travel to bp sites and supplier facilities may be required.\nAbout bp\nOur purpose is to deliver energy to the world, today and tomorrow.
