Working within the strategy, requirements, governance and priorities established, the postholder, implements and supports reliable, secure and commercially sustainable connectivity of the installed estate.\nWe are looking for an experienced, senior engineer who independently progresses complex activity with uncertain constraints. Covering delivery and operation of reliable connectivity for the business, including managing third parties, and supporting incidents.\nWhat you'll do\nYou'll provide technical leadership across hardware security and connectivity solutions that support bp's EV charging estate.\nKey responsibilities include:\nAssessing and improving the security of EV charging hardware, embedded systems, battery systems, and connected technologies.\nReviewing supplier solutions and providing recommendations to address security or connectivity risks.\nSupporting the delivery and operation of cellular connectivity services used across charging infrastructure.\nLeading investigations into connectivity or security incidents and driving effective resolution.\nDefining technical requirements, acceptance criteria, and assurance activities for new solutions.\nSupporting testing activities, including vulnerability assessments and penetration testing.\nEvaluating connectivity technologies, including cellular, broadband, fibre, Ethernet, and wireless solutions.\nWorking with suppliers and stakeholders to balance security, performance, reliability, cost, and operational needs.\nMaintaining high-quality technical documentation, designs, and assurance records.\nWhat we're looking for\nWe're interested in candidates who bring experience from areas such as EV charging, cyber security, telecommunications, networking, IoT, operational technology, or connected infrastructure.\nYou may be a great fit if you have:\nA degree or equivalent practical experience in engineering, cyber security, telecommunications, networking, software, electronics, or a related field.\nExperience designing, supporting, or securing connected devices, systems, or infrastructure.\nKnowledge of networking technologies such as TCP/IP, routing, switching, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, firewalls, and secure remote access.\nExperience working with cellular technologies and connectivity services.\nThe ability to assess technical risks and communicate recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.\nExperience collaborating with suppliers, technology partners, and cross-functional teams.\nNice to have\nThe following experience would be beneficial but is not required:\nEV charging infrastructure.\nIndustrial or operational technology environments.\nPKI, certificate management, secure boot, or trusted hardware technologies.\nVulnerability management, penetration testing, or security assurance.\nEnterprise or industrial networking.\nFamiliarity with standards such as IEC 62443, ISO 27001, ETSI EN 303 645, or NIS2.\nRelevant cyber security, networking, or engineering certifications.\nHow you'll work\nIn this role, you'll:\nUse data and evidence to support decision-making.\nApproach complex technical challenges with curiosity and structure.\nCollaborate across diverse teams and stakeholders.\nBalance security, reliability, customer experience, and commercial priorities.\nShare knowledge and support continuous improvement across the organization.\nWhy join us?\nAt bp, we support our people to grow in a diverse and exciting environment.
