At-will means that either you or Archaea may terminate your employment at any time, with or without cause, and with or without prior notice.\nAbout the role\nThe Integrated Operations Technician is responsible for the overall safe operation, maintenance, repair, and performance of a landfill gas to Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) processing facility and wellfield. This position requires 25%-50% travel per month (First 12 months in the position will require 50% travel per month when hired for a new plant. Travel requirement will reduce to 25% per month when working at an existing plant or in year 2 and beyond for a new plant).\nKey Accountabilities\nResponsible for the safe operation and troubleshooting of the plant/wellfield and control devices during assigned shift in the most efficient and productive method to maintain compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), government rules, regulations, site specific Title V Operating Permit, and prescribed safety and environmental standards and NSPS guidlines.\n\nFollows all plant and landfill safety policies and procedures. Uses personal protective equipment (hardhat, FR clothing, safety shoes, safety vest, hearing protection, safety glasses, gas monitoring equipment, etc.) in accordance with work tasks and company policies.\n\nMake periodic inspections of plant equipment to determine proper and normal operating conditions. Check and record operational data such as fluid levels, temperatures and pressures, compare to trends and have the ability to make corrections as needed.\n\nReview daily operating reports and other records to ensure specified operating characteristics in control of the plant equipment.\n\nPerform preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on plant instrumentation and equipment. Performs tuning and adjustment of wellfield collection system to ensure compliance, maximize gas collection, and minimize air intrusion, storing data as required.\n\nPerforms and documents wellhead repairs, adjustments, and reading; coordinates, communicates, and verifies corrective actions in order to maintain continuous wellfield compliance. *\n\nDetect and correct faulty and malfunctioning mechanical and electrical components, devices and equipment.\n\nOperate advanced instrumentation and process control systems.\n\nDiagnose equipment/wellfield malfunctions during emergencies and direct activities to restore normal operation or to shut down malfunctioning unit.\n\nTest electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures using testing devices such as ohmmeters and voltmeters. *\n\nTroubleshoot and repair electrical system wiring from control wiring up to 480 volts. Install, remove and modify equipment.\n\nNotify Lead Operation Technician and Regional Manager of shutdown or major changes in power output of unit.\n\nMaintain all plant equipment and structures in accordance with manufactures and Archaea Energy guidelines.\n\nMaintain a clean workspace including the plant building, control room, rest room, break room and grounds. Maintains cleanliness and upkeep of facility vehicles and equipment.\n\nWrite routine reports and correspondence.\n\nMaintain daily operation logs for shift in accordance with prescribed standards. Maintain Wellfield database and associated logs to meet regulatory and corporate compliance requirements. *\n\nAssist in planning maintenance and outage activities. Assist supervisory staff with operational planning of construction projects and gas collection field expansions/repairs.\n\nAssist in defining, ordering and procuring all required parts.\n\nResponds in a timely manner to callouts and work overtime as required.\n\nPerform analytical tests as needed and document as required (i.e. PH, Conductivity, methane, H2S, moisture, calibration of data collection and gas analysis instruments). Ensure all analytical equipment calibrations and recordkeeping are current.\n\nImplement all safety procedures to include lockout tag out procedures. *\n\nPerform all aspects of Hazardous waste handling and management in accordance with training. Duties may range from filling of waste containers, proper labeling, movement of containers, completing appropriate paperwork, and signing of Hazardous waste shipping manifest or receiving hazardous products.\n\nThis position requires 25%-50% travel per month (First 12 months in the position will require 50% travel per month when hired for a new plant. Travel requirement will reduce to 25% per month when working at an existing plant or in year 2 and beyond for a new plant).\n\nEssential education\nRequires a High School Diploma or equivalent.\n\nIntermediate Electrical, Chemical and Mechanical experience.\n\nPrevious landfill gas operation experience a plus, minimum of 1-3 years in landfill gas processing, chemical plant operations, industrial gas operations, or power plant operations or equivalent.\n\nEssential experience\nUnderstanding of process control systems as applied to landfill gas collection and processing.\n\nTechnical / Troubleshooting skills with ability to read and understand complex technical manuals and schematics.\n\n3+ years’ experience in landfill gas processing, or power plant operations Any technical certification or training is a plus.\n\nUnderstanding a variety of sensors and transducer systems, calibrate, and troubleshoot different types of pressure, level, flow and temperature sensors, understand the complete plant process and how it’s affected by the control system, including troubleshooting mechanical systems as required.\n\nKnowledge of basic math, gas chemistry, piping and instrumentation drawings.\n\nAbility to read blueprints and follow established procedures with minimal amount of general supervision (i.e., work independently).\n\nAbility to recognize colors, able to distinguish between the red and green status indicators on PLC and wire colors.\n\nAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.\n\nAbility to write routine reports and correspondence.\n\nAbility to speak effectively to employees of the organization.\n\nAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables.\n\nAbility to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.\n\nProficient using computers (experience using MS Word, Excel and email systems) and monitoring equipment to measure, record and make adjustments within operating parameters, perform fault finding and repair as well as required scheduled maintenance.\n\nBasic chemical and mechanical experience\n\nHands-on mechanical and process equipment.\n\nPrevious landfill and or gas processing experience\n\nMust possess a valid driver’s license, must pass background check, hearing and DOT drug test\n\nDesirable criteria\n3+ years’ experience in landfill gas processing, or power plant operations\n\nAny technical certification or training is a plus.\n\nTraining Requirements\n· Demonstration of control system operation including information access, control manipulation, and alarm retrieval.\n· Explanation of the operation of the compressors, process skid, refrigeration unit, and sulfa treat system. Demonstration/simulation of a unit start-up, shutdown, and/or casualty response as described in the Operating Instructions and governed by prudent operating practices.\n· Environmental and regulatory compliance and reporting requirements.\n· Learn and demonstrate basic gas collection system operation including wellhead data collection, wellfield balancing, and wellhead/wellfield maintenance.\n· Learn and demonstrate operation of a landfill gas control device/flare, including information access, start-up/shutdown, and alarm retrieval/response.\n· Learn and demonstrate use of gas monitoring equipment (4 gas monitor, Envision gas analyzer, gas chromatograph, etc.).\n· Learn and confirm knowledge of environmental and regulatory compliance and permit requirements.\n· Demonstrate the ability to operate fleet, all terrain, and other vehicles and equipment in a safe and efficient manner.\n· Complete all safety and other company-required training.\n· Required to complete the following hazardous waste training classes within the first 6 months of hire date:\n· Hazwoper 40-hour initial training and 8-hour recurrent refresher course\n· Storing and Shipping Hazardous Waste: Large Quantity Generators\n· Hazardous Materials Transportation Certification\nWhy join us?\nDelivering a better and more balanced energy system requires many different approaches and solutions.
