Delivering our strategy sustainably is fundamental to achieving our ambition to be a net zero company by 2050 or sooner.\nAbout the role:\nAs an Originator within GLIGHTS, you will develop and complete a portfolio of commercial opportunities across the light ends value chain, including supply, offtake, storage and logistics.\nThis is a business development and origination role rather than a day-to-day trading position. You will focus on longer-term commercial opportunities, such as strategic investments and long-term supply or purchase arrangements, that support the objectives of the trading desks. You will build relationships with external counterparties, identify innovative opportunities and work across bp to integrate originated flows into the trading book.\nWhat you will do:\nBuild and maintain a strong pipeline of opportunities across supply, offtake, storage and logistics.\nIdentify and develop strategic positions aligned with bp’s global long and short positions.\nEstablish and own trusted counterparty relationships that can unlock proprietary flows and new sources of value.\nOriginate and integrate physical flows into the trading book to maximise commercial value and optionality.\nStructure, negotiate and perform complex commercial agreements.\nLead cross-functional deal activity from the initial concept through to execution and implementation.\nWork with trading, operations, analytics, legal, finance, risk and other internal partners to assess and deliver opportunities.\nSupport the longer-term commercial strategy of the GLIGHTS trading desks across international markets.\nYou will ideally bring:\nWe are looking for someone who can combine an understanding of physical commodity markets with strong commercial judgement, relationship-building skills and practical negotiation experience.\nTechnical & Commercial\nProven experience in commercial roles\nStrong grasp of physical trading economics\nProven track record of originating value through innovative ideas, creative structures and counterparty networks\nNegotiation skills\nExperience working across multiple geographies and cross-border flows\nBehavioural competencies\nStrong commercial perspective with high ownership and delivery focus\nInfluences internal and external partners to achieve optimal outcomes\nApplies sound judgement and constructively challenges assumptions\nCommunicates complex ideas clearly and effectively\nMakes decisions effectively under uncertainty, balancing risk and reward\nDemonstrates resilience, drive and accountability in fast-paced environments\nCollaborative approach with the ability to lead across functions and geographies\nStrong integrity with a disciplined risk and control attitude\nWhy Join Us?\nAt bp, you'll be part of an inclusive and collaborative culture where learning, development and wellbeing are prioritised.
