Castrol India has a proud legacy of championing top talent for leadership roles, both locally and globally.\nWe are currently looking for Packaging Engineer based at Pune with details mentioned below.\nLet me tell you about the role!\nThe Packaging Engineer will be responsible for supporting and executing packaging development projects across sustainability, cost saving, innovation, new product introduction, quality improvement, mold development, packaging qualification & create /modify SOP. The role will ensure that packaging components are fit for purpose, aligned with global standards, qualification protocols and business requirements.\nThe role will work closely with PU procurement teams, plants operation, suppliers, quality, supply chain, marketing and global packaging procurement teams to deliver local and global packaging technical projects. It will also support global packaging agenda and contribute to packaging technical projects across regions as required.\nWhat will you deliver?\nPackaging Development & Innovation\nSupport development and execution of packaging projects for new product introduction, pack changes, innovation and business growth initiatives.\nWork with internal customers and packaging suppliers to develop packaging designs, materials and specifications that meet business, operational and technical requirements.\nSupport evaluation of new packaging materials, formats, suppliers and technologies aligned with global packaging standards.\nSustainability Projects\nSupport packaging sustainability agenda including PCR implementation, recyclable packaging, lightweighting, material reduction and circular packaging solutions.\nWork with suppliers and internal teams to identify and qualify sustainable packaging alternatives.\nSupport execution of sustainability projects in line with local regulatory requirements and global packaging priorities.\nCost Saving & Value Engineering\nIdentify and support packaging cost-saving opportunities through alternate materials, design optimization, supplier development and process improvement.\nConduct technical feasibility evaluations for cost-saving ideas without compromising packaging quality, performance or compliance.\nSupport procurement teams with technical inputs for sourcing and supplier-related initiatives.\nMold Development & Qualification\nCoordinate mold development, modification and qualification activities for bottles, caps, closures, pails and other packaging components.\nReview packaging drawings, 2D/3D designs, artwork-related technical inputs and packaging specifications.\nSupport mold trials, sample evaluation, dimensional checks and final qualification asper Global Test Protocols (GTP) before commercial implementation.\nPackaging Qualification & Validation\nPrepare and implement packaging qualification plans in line with Global Qualification Protocols.\nConduct and support packaging performance testing, filling trials, line trials, transit trials and storage trials.\nAnalyse trial results and prepare clear technical reports with recommendations for approval or improvement.\nEnsure packaging qualification documentation is properly maintained.\nQuality Improvement & Issue Resolution\nSupport investigation of packaging quality issues reported from plants, markets, suppliers or customers.\nAssist in root cause analysis, corrective and preventive action plans and supplier improvement actions.\nWork with suppliers and internal teams to improve packaging performance, consistency and reliability.\nProcurement & Supplier Support\nProvide technical support to local procurement teams for supplier identification, development, qualification and performance improvement.\nSupport supplier capability evaluations, audits and technical discussions.\nWork with procurement and suppliers to ensure packaging materials meet required quality, supply and sustainability expectations.\nGlobal Packaging Agenda\nSupport delivery of global packaging agenda including standardization, sustainability, innovation, supplier qualification and quality improvement projects.\nCollaborate with global & local packaging procurement teams on cross-market technical projects.\nProvide technical support for global packaging projects as and when required.\nCreate or Modify packaging development SOP, timelines & templates.\nExperience\n8 - 12 years of experience in packaging development for consumer goods, lubricants, personal care, or related industries.\nExposure to sustainability and recycled plastic projects is preferred.\nExperience in driving packaging projects such as innovation, supplier introduction, cost saving, sustainability, value engineering and quality improvement.\nExperience in filling line trials, transit trials, packaging testing and validation will be preferred.\nGood communication, coordination and customer management skills\nShould be flexible to work in different time zone to support global teams\nKey Skills Required\nPackaging development and qualification\nSustainability and PCR packaging projects\nMold development and supplier coordination\nPackaging testing and transit trial execution\nCost saving and value engineering\nRoot cause analysis and quality improvement\nCross-functional and global project execution\nStrong analytical and communication skills\nKey Customers\nPackaging Technical Team\nPU Procurement Teams\nGlobal Packaging Procurement Team\nManufacturing Plants\nQuality Assurance / Quality Control\nSupply Chain\nMarketing / Brand Teams\nPackaging Suppliers\nExternal Testing Laboratories\nEducation\nPostgraduate in Packaging Technology from Indian Institute of Packaging or equivalent\n\nWhy join our team?\nWe support our people to learn and grow in a diverse and exciting environment.
