They will lead technical delivery, drive engineering excellence and help establish modern data engineering practices across the organisation.\nKey Responsibilities\nData Platform and Engineering\nDesign, develop and maintain scalable data pipelines and integrations.\nBuild and operate cloud-based data platforms, data products and analytical datasets.\nDevelop reusable frameworks, automation and engineering patterns to accelerate delivery.\nEnsure data solutions are secure, performant, resilient and cost-efficient.\nImplement CI/CD, automated testing, monitoring and observability across data platforms.\nSolution Design\nTranslate business requirements into data models, pipelines and technical solutions.\nDesign logical and physical data models supporting reporting, analytics, AI and operational use cases.\nCollaborate with enterprise and solution architects to align solutions with strategic technology standards.\nEvaluate new technologies and recommend improvements to existing platforms.\nData Management and Governance\nSupport implementation of data governance, quality, lineage and metadata management practices.\nEnsure data assets meet applicable regulatory, audit and control requirements.\nDrive improvements in data quality and trusted data consumption.\nLeadership and Collaboration\nProvide technical leadership across delivery teams.\nMentor and coach data engineers and development teams.\nCollaborate with Product Managers, Data Scientists, AI Engineers and Finance stakeholders.\nContribute to engineering standards, best practices and continuous improvement initiatives.\nEssential Skills and Experience\nTechnical\nSignificant experience delivering enterprise-scale data engineering solutions.\nStrong SQL and data modelling expertise.\nExperience with cloud data platforms, with Azure experience preferred.\nExperience building ELT/ETL pipelines and data integration solutions.\nStrong software engineering practices, including source control, testing, CI/CD and automation.\nExperience with big data, streaming and modern data architectures.\nKnowledge of security, access controls and data governance requirements.\nWays of Working\nStrong problem-solving and systems-thinking capability.\nAbility to balance strategic design with hands-on delivery.\nComfortable operating in complex, global organisations.\nStrong partner management and communication skills.\nDemonstrated ability to work through ambiguity and drive outcomes.\nPreferred Experience\nFinance, Treasury, Tax, FP&A or ERP data domains.\nSAP, S/4HANA, Fiori or enterprise finance platforms.\nData products supporting AI, machine learning or generative AI use cases.\nExperience with Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake or comparable cloud data platforms.\nExperience operating within Agile product teams.\nExpectations\nLead significant technical workstreams independently.\nMake key engineering and design decisions.\nInfluence technical direction across multiple teams.\nMentor engineers and raise engineering standards.\nDeliver business-critical outcomes with limited supervision.\nBe recognised as a subject matter expert within their domain.\nWhy join us?\nAt bp, we support our people to grow in a diverse and exciting environment.
