Exposure to both software development and data engineering is highly desirable. The role requires strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams.\nJob Responsibilities\nDesign, develop, test, and maintain robust and scalable backend applications and services.\nDevelop backend solutions using a modern programming language, with Node.js/JavaScript preferred.\nWork with relational databases and write efficient SQL and PL/SQL queries, procedures, and data-processing logic.\nApply relational data modelling principles when designing and implementing database solutions.\nContribute to data engineering activities, including data integration, transformation, processing, and troubleshooting.\nParticipate across the complete software development lifecycle, from requirements and solution design through development, deployment, and production support.\nCollaborate with product owners, architects, developers, data engineers, and operations teams to deliver high-quality solutions.\nDevelop scripts and automation to improve development and operational efficiency.\nParticipate in system design and solution architecture discussions.\nFollow software engineering, coding, testing, and information security best practices.\nSupport production services, investigate technical issues, and contribute to overall system reliability and resilience.\nDemonstrate strong problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and knowledge-sharing skills within an agile team.\nJob Qualifications\nEssential\nProven experience in backend software development.\nStrong programming and software engineering fundamentals in at least one programming language.\nGood understanding of SQL, relational databases, and relational data modelling.\nExperience developing, debugging, and supporting backend applications and services.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.\nGood understanding of software development lifecycle and agile development practices.\nExperience with source control tools such as Git.\nStrong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and business teams.\nPreferred\nHands-on experience with Node.js / JavaScript/ SQL.\nWorking knowledge of SQL or PL/SQL, including procedures and database programming.\nExposure to data engineering, data integration, ETL/ELT, or data-processing solutions.\nExperience with CI/CD pipelines, release management, and deployment automation.\nExperience developing scripts for automation and operational activities.\nUnderstanding of system design, APIs, integration patterns, and solution architecture.\nFamiliarity with information security principles and secure software development practices.\nExperience supporting production applications with a focus on availability, resilience, monitoring, and troubleshooting.\nKey Skills\nBackend Development | Node.js | JavaScript/TypeScript | SQL | PL/SQL | Relational Databases | Data Engineering | APIs & Integration | Git | CI/CD | Agile | Problem Solving | Communication | Collaboration | Quick Learner\nWhy join bp\nOur purpose is to deliver energy to the world, today and tomorrow.
