Global SAP MDG Technical Lead - Material/Product Data

Role overview

We are looking for an experienced Global SAP MDG Technical Lead to support a large international FMCG organisation in the continued development and transformation of its global Master Data Management landscape.

The role will focus primarily on SAP MDG-M / Product & Material Master Data, combining hands-on technical expertise with solution design, integration architecture and technical leadership across global initiatives.

Start: 1 October 2026

Duration: 6 months

Engagement: Full-time

Location: Remote - Americas preferred; Europe also considered. Candidates will work standard business hours within their respective region/time zone.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the technical implementation of SAP MDG-M (Material/Product) initiatives, including continuous improvement activities and transformation projects.
• Provide technical expertise on the existing SAP MDG landscape and support major transformation programmes.
• Own and drive MDG solution design and integration architecture across upstream and downstream systems.
• Support the development of a consistent enterprise-wide view of Product and Material Master Data throughout its lifecycle.
• Contribute to improvements across the enterprise data model, SAP MDG templates, integrations, data quality and reporting capabilities.
• Partner with Master Data domain leads, functional experts and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Assess business requirements and determine whether they require system enhancements, architectural changes or business process transformation.
• Ensure technical solutions follow agreed architecture and design governance standards.
• Coordinate with internal technical teams and external implementation partners to ensure solutions are delivered according to agreed designs.
• Provide technical leadership across global stakeholders and communicate progress, risks, issues and dependencies to senior stakeholders.
• Potentially coordinate a small number of external contractors.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in Master Data Management, Data Architecture or related areas, ideally within a complex multinational environment.
• Strong hands-on experience designing and implementing SAP Master Data solutions, particularly SAP MDG / MDG-M.
• Experience with relevant SAP technologies such as SAP MDG, HANA, Data Services and related integration solutions.
• Strong understanding of Material/Product Master Data, data models, workflows and governance.
• Experience designing integrations between SAP MDG and upstream/downstream enterprise systems.
• Ability to design and optimise complex business processes, data models and workflows.
• Experience in Solution Architecture and working with complex application landscapes.
• Previous exposure to large-scale transformation programmes, ideally involving SAP S/4HANA.
• Experience working with global stakeholders, technical teams, functional experts and third-party vendors.
• Strong leadership skills and ability to operate independently within a matrix organisation.
• FMCG / Consumer Products experience and knowledge of Product/Material data would be highly beneficial.
• Fluent English.
