You will work closely with colleagues across the business to ensure invoices are paid promptly, queries are resolved quickly and overdue balances are actively managed.\nThe successful candidate will be confident communicating with clients and internal stakeholders, able to manage competing priorities and comfortable taking ownership of issues through to resolution.Manage a portfolio of client accounts and proactively pursue outstanding debt.\nAgencies: We are not accepting CVs for this role as we are aiming to fill it directly. Any unsolicited CVs sent to hiring managers or the business, without prior instruction from a member of the Talent Acquisition team, will be treated as a gift.\nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES\nManage a portfolio of client accounts and proactively pursue outstanding debt.\n\nContact clients by telephone and email to secure payment of overdue invoices.\n\nBuild effective working relationships with internal stakeholders, including fee earners and support teams.\n\nAgree appropriate payment arrangements where required and monitor these to ensure payments are received as agreed.\n\nIdentify disputed invoices and other issues preventing payment and work with the relevant teams to resolve them.\n\nReview aged debt regularly, prioritising higher-value and higher-risk balances.\n\nMaintain accurate and up-to-date notes of collection activity, payment commitments and disputes.\n\nEscalate significantly overdue or problematic debts in line with internal procedures.\n\nSupport the preparation and distribution of statements, reminders and other credit control correspondence.\n\nAllocate or investigate payments and account queries where appropriate.\n\nAssist with credit checks and the ongoing monitoring of client credit risk.\n\nContribute to cash collection and working capital objectives.\n\nProvide information and updates for debt and working capital reporting.\n\nWork collaboratively with the wider Finance team to improve processes and the overall effectiveness of credit control.\n\nEnsure client relationships are handled professionally and sensitively throughout the collection process.\n\nABOUT YOU\nYou will ideally have:\nPrevious experience in credit control, collections, accounts receivable or a similar finance role.\n\nStrong communication skills and confidence speaking with clients about outstanding payments.\n\nGood relationship-building skills and the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at different levels.\n\nA professional but persistent approach to debt collection.\n\nStrong organisational skills and the ability to manage a busy portfolio.\n\nGood attention to detail and accurate record keeping.\n\nConfidence using Microsoft Excel and finance/accounting systems.\n\nThe ability to investigate problems rather than simply escalating them.\n\nA commercially aware approach, balancing cash collection with maintaining positive client relationships.\n\nWhat we're looking for\nBeyond previous credit control experience, we're looking for someone who takes ownership. You'll be comfortable picking up the phone, asking the right questions and following an issue through until it is resolved.\nYou'll understand that effective credit control isn't simply about chasing invoices.
