It’s the kind of work you'll still be proud of in ten years from now.\nAbout the Role\nWe’re hiring a Security Engineering Lead to help make security engineering more effective, scalable, and repeatable as Brain Co. grows. You’ll report to the Head of Security and serve as a close partner in leading the function.\nBrain Co. works with sensitive customer data in a high-stakes environment with very low tolerance for risk. This is a player-coach role: you’ll set direction, develop leaders, improve how the team operates, and stay close enough to the technical work to guide difficult decisions.\nThe initial scope is intentionally focused and expected to grow through results. The right person is comfortable building in a greenfield environment, creating high ownership, and translating security risk into clear priorities for technical and non-technical partners. The mandate from day one is to develop people, improve execution, and make disciplined choices about the risks and systems that matter most.\nWhat You’ll Lead & Build\nSet and refine the security engineering roadmap in partnership with company and engineering leadership.\n\nAutomate and operationalize how security engineering engages with the rest of the company.\n\nStrengthen existing SLAs, KPIs, ownership models, and operating rhythms, then use them to improve velocity and security outcomes.\n\nDrive operational excellence across security engineering domains, including vulnerability management, application and infrastructure security, incident response, monitoring, and automation.\n\nTurn effective security engineering practices into a repeatable system that scales beyond individual heroics.\n\nLead, coach, and grow a high-performing team; develop managers and technical leaders through clear expectations, feedback, and mentorship.\n\nTranslate strategy into team priorities, individual goals, and an accountable execution plan.\n\nStay hands-on in technical decisions, architecture review, code review, and implementation when the work requires it.\n\nPartner across engineering and product to embed security into the software development lifecycle and make the secure path the practical path.\n\nWhat We’re Looking For\nExperience managing managers and developing leaders at multiple levels.\n\nHands-on security engineering leadership and the ability to build a function in a zero-to-one environment.\n\nBroad knowledge across multiple security domains-such as vulnerability management, incident response, security monitoring, application security, or cloud security-with deep expertise in at least one.\n\nA player-coach track record: able to guide technical design and execution while managing people, priorities, and processes.\n\nStrong prioritization judgment when the scope is broad and the tolerance for risk is low.\n\nExperience improving how a team operates, including how work is measured, assigned, and delivered.\n\nExperience automating a security team’s engagement model or improving its SLA and KPI practices.\n\nExperience turning strategy into roadmaps, measurable outcomes, and cross-functional execution.\n\nStrong communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders, including the ability to articulate business risk and secure alignment.\n\nA track record of hiring, coaching, mentoring, and raising the performance of technical teams and leaders.\n\nExperience in a SaaS or AI company with low risk thresholds, or building security infrastructure, monitoring, and automation, is helpful but not required.clients who may be skeptical of or unfamiliar with the tooling.\nEqual Opportunity and Accessibility\nBrain Co. is an equal opportunity employer.
