With a strong technical acumen and an excellent background in Python and C++ development, you will help lead a team of committed engineers to build interfaces and workflows, integrate state-of-the-art autonomy features, and deploy robust, safe, and scalable software application solutions for our next generation of products. You will identify performance bottlenecks, coordinate with cross-functional teams on simulation and control, and prioritize projects and tasks for the benefit of our end customers.\nEssential Job Functions:\nDefine, architect, and develop our in-house robot software applications\nServe as a technical lead by mentoring junior engineers, providing high-quality feedback on designs and code reviews, and driving technical excellence through clean, reusable code\nProactively identify and communicate technical risks, provide clear project status updates, and continuously improve software development processes\nDrive impact as a significant code contributor, developing extensible, maintainable, and scalable application value for robots deployed worldwide\nImprove software application performance through profiling, debugging, and testing\nSupport integration of state-of-the-art autonomy features (deep learning models and pipelines, state-of-the-art mapping, perception, and motion planning algorithms)\nTake ownership and initiative for improving the quality of the software applications and architectures\nWork across disciplines (Hardware, Firmware, Cloud), coordinate multiple initiatives, and architect efficient and reusable solutions for various robot product lines\nEducation and/or Work Experience Requirements:\nBS or MS in Computer Science or related engineering discipline\n7-8+ years of demonstrated experience in software development for complex systems interacting with sensors inputs or control-loops\n1-2+ years of demonstrated software technical leadership experience\nExperience writing Python applications and knowledge of Python constructs and internals\nRequired Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics:\nDemonstrated high proficiency with Python and C++ production-level coding\nGood knowledge of software debugging and profiling tools\nDistill product requirements into actionable engineering tasks while leaving room for design and implementation discussions\nExcellent organizational, analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills\nOpen, curious and creative mind, willing to build the future of robotics\nPhysical Demands:\nThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Employees are exposed to the typical office environment with computers, printers and telephones.\nSalary Range:\nThe anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in San Diego, California is $187,182 to $201,221.
