Headquartered in Munich, Germany, the company creates advanced solutions for surgical navigation, robotic assistance, and digital operating room integration across fields like neurosurgery, spine, trauma, and oncology. Its integrated digital ecosystem helps medical professionals plan and execute precise, minimally invasive procedures while optimizing clinical workflows.

Dr. Langer Medical GmbH, based in Waldkirch, Germany, which has been part of Brainlab SE in Munich since 2022, has specialized in the development and marketing of highly innovative medical technology for intraoperative neuromonitoring and neurostimulation for more than 25 years. Our products are groundbreaking in design and handling and form the basis for our worldwide growth. It is therefore no coincidence that the products from Dr. Langer Medical as well as the company itself have been honored several times in the past with various prizes and awards.

As part of your master’s thesis, you will develop a functional prototype of a simulator for neurophysiological signals for use in intraoperative neuromonitoring (IONM). Your responsibilities will include, in particular:

  • Analyzing relevant influencing factors such as anesthesia, muscle relaxants, and technical interference
  • Developing a technical concept for generating realistic bioelectrical signals
  • Selecting and designing suitable hardware components (e.g., signal sources, microcontrollers, filters, amplifiers)
  • Design and construction of a test system, including hardware and software
  • Development of a configurable user interface for controlling signal parameters (amplitude, frequency, latency, interference variables)
  • Simulation of clinically relevant influencing factors such as electrical interference signals or pharmacological effects
  • Validation of the developed solution with existing neuromonitoring systems
  • Documentation, analysis, and evaluation of the results
  • Derivation of a concept for further development into a near-production product
  • Master’s degree in electrical engineering, medical engineering, biomedical engineering, physics, or a related field
  • Interest in biosignal processing, electronics, and physiological processes
  • Basic knowledge of embedded systems and/or signal processing is a plus
  • Ability to work in a structured and independent manner
