You’ll own complex features from design through launch, help shape technical decisions, and support other developers through mentoring and code reviews.\nThis role is ideal for an experienced, hands-on developer who enjoys solving challenging problems, building reliable web applications, and using AI to improve how we create and deliver content to millions of learners.\nWhat You'll Do\nFeature Development & Technical Ownership\nDesign, build, ship, and maintain full-stack features using PHP (Laravel) and Vue.js.\nOwn complex projects end-to-end, from clarifying requirements and choosing an approach to rollout and ongoing support.\nHelp shape application architecture, balancing delivery needs with long-term maintainability and scalability.\nWrite clean, well-tested code and raise code quality through thoughtful code reviews.\nImprove application performance, reliability, responsiveness, and accessibility.\nAI Integration & Tooling\nBuild and integrate AI/LLM capabilities that automate workflows and improve the user experience.\nEvaluate models, prompting approaches, and AI evaluation frameworks, considering quality, reliability, cost, and privacy.\nCollaborate on AI-assisted features such as automated content generation and intelligent study tools.\nHelp take promising AI experiments into reliable, production-ready solutions.\nCollaboration & Quality\nWork closely with Product, Design, and Engineering peers to turn ideas into practical technical solutions.\nBreak down complex work, identify risks and dependencies, and contribute to realistic delivery plans.\nMentor developers through code reviews, pairing, and knowledge sharing.\nWrite unit and integration tests and help strengthen testing practices across the team.\nUse observability tools such as New Relic to investigate issues, monitor application health, and prevent recurring problems.\nContribute to sprint planning and improvements in how the team works.\nWhat We're Looking For\nRequired\n5+ years of professional experience in web development, with substantial hands-on experience across both backend and frontend.\nStrong proficiency in PHP (Laravel) or Node.js, and readiness to work with Laravel.\nExperience building modern, interactive applications with Vue.js or a similar framework such as React.\nHands-on experience building or integrating LLM-powered features in production\nExperience with prompt engineering, model evaluation, and monitoring AI-powered systems.\nStrong understanding of relational databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL), API design, and application architecture.\nExperience independently delivering complex features and supporting them in production.\nAbility to explain technical trade-offs and make sound decisions around performance, security, scalability, and maintainability.\nExperience mentoring developers and providing constructive code-review feedback.\nA collaborative, practical approach to problem-solving and a willingness to learn new technologies.\nNice to Have\nKnowledge of cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP) and CI/CD best practices.\nFamiliarity with Docker or containerized development environments.\n#tttL#I-IL\nLife at BrainPOP\nAt BrainPOP, our work directly impacts how teachers teach and students learn.
