You will bring a thoughtful, detail-oriented approach to testing, communicate risks\nclearly, and help teams make informed release decisions.\nLocation and Work Arrangement\nThis role is based in Toronto, Ontario, and requires in-office attendance at Brainyyack's Toronto office.\nYou must be able to commute to the office and collaborate with the team in person.\nKey Responsibilities\nReview requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria; identify gaps, edge cases, and testability\nconcerns early.\nCreate and maintain test plans, test cases, test data, and traceable coverage of critical business\nworkflows.\nPerform functional, exploratory, regression, smoke, integration, and cross-browser testing.\nTest APIs and integrations, including authentication, validation, error handling, and data consistency.\nDocument defects with clear reproduction steps, expected and actual results, severity, and supporting\nevidence.\nCollaborate with developers to investigate defects, verify fixes, and prevent recurring issues.\nBuild and maintain automated tests for stable, high-value workflows; investigate failures and reduce\nflaky tests.\nRun regression checks within delivery pipelines and support release testing and user acceptance testing.\nReport test results, coverage gaps, and release risks clearly; recommend improvements to testing\npractices.\nRequired Qualifications\nProfessional experience testing software applications, with a strong foundation in manual testing and\ndefect management.\nUnderstanding of the software development and testing lifecycles, Agile delivery, and risk-based testing.\nAbility to design effective test cases using boundary values, equivalence classes, negative scenarios,\nand end-to-end workflows.\nHands-on experience with at least one automation framework, such as Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium.\nAbility to write and maintain test scripts using JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Java, or C#.\nExperience testing REST APIs using Postman or equivalent tools, with an understanding of HTTP, JSON,\nand authentication.\nWorking knowledge of SQL for validating records, relationships, and data changes in relational\ndatabases.\nFamiliarity with Git, CI/CD concepts, and issue tracking tools such as Jira or Asana.\nStrong analytical skills, attention to detail, and clear written and verbal communication.\nAbility to work independently, prioritize testing by risk, and collaborate constructively with\ncross-functional teams.\nAbility to work in person at the Toronto office.\nPreferred Skills and Experience\nExperience with insurance products, including claims, policy administration, or adjuster workflows.\nMobile application testing on iOS and Android, including familiarity with Appium.\nPerformance testing with tools such as k6 or JMeter; accessibility testing using automated tools and\nmanual checks.\nTest management tools such as TestRail, Xray, or Zephyr; CI/CD integration using AWS or GitHub Actions.\nExperience testing AI-enabled features, including inconsistent outputs, failure scenarios, and human\nreview workflows.\nUse of AI tools to assist with test design or automation, with independent validation and appropriate\nhandling of confidential data.\nISTQB certification or equivalent testing education.\nWhat Success Looks Like\nWell-tested critical workflows, clear and actionable defect reports, dependable automated checks,\nand timely visibility into release risks.
