Once a year, the entire company gathers for “BranchFest”, a highlight of the year for many Branchers.\nAbout the Role\nAt Branch, we're reshaping the insurance experience with efficient, transparent, member-centered products. As an Analytics Engineer, you'll build the data models, tables and self-service tools that our Accounting, Actuarial and Claims teams rely on, working in SQL and dbt on BigQuery.\nYou'll join the Analytics Engineering team in Branch's Data Office, reporting to the Senior Manager, Analytics Engineering. Requests come to the team as tickets, and you'll take yours from the question through to production data. As you grow in the role, you'll own a data domain and the stakeholder relationships that come with it.\nAI is built into how the team works. Claude Code drafts pull requests inside our dbt project, and the team reviews, corrects and improves what it produces. Branch also moves faster than a large carrier: work that takes a quarter elsewhere ships here in a couple of weeks. That pace is the best part of the job and the biggest adjustment for anyone arriving from a larger company.\nThis role is ideal for someone who wants to write the code themselves, see their work end to end, and grow quickly.\nKey Responsibilities\nBuild views, tables, data models, data dictionaries and self-service tools in SQL and dbt, with support from peers and senior members of the Data Office.\n\nMonitor data quality proactively, prevent unwanted changes and defects, and fix them promptly when they occur.\n\nWork tickets from Accounting, Actuarial and Claims stakeholders from the request through to production.\n\nUnderstand each project's full scope, how it interacts with other projects, and how data flows between them. Advocate for best practices and adherence to service guidelines.\n\nReview AI-generated code carefully, catch its mistakes, and help the team's AI tools improve over time.\n\nCollaborate with leaders to implement, refine and document processes and best practices that improve quality and the functionality of our self-service tools.\n\nBuild a working knowledge of how data development works at Branch and of the insurance business behind the data.\n\nSkills & Experience\n3+ years of relevant experience in data or reporting development, including data modeling and data quality monitoring.\n\nStrong, hands-on SQL is required. You have built the models and transformations yourself, not only the dashboards on top of them.\n\nExperience with dbt is a strong plus.\n\nExperience with process automation, automated reporting and business intelligence.\n\nExperience with Python is a strong plus.
