This is a hands-on opportunity to gain experience in the fast-growing field of building science, with a focus on green building consulting, energy analytics, and building commissioning. You will work closely with our multidisciplinary team of engineers, architects, and consultants to assistin evaluating building performance, optimizingenergy efficiency, and implementing sustainable design practices.\nAnalytics Intern Key Responsibilities:\nLearn the basics of energy modeling, including how building systems interact to use energy, how to build out geometry and engineering systems in energy modeling software, and how to analyze model results.\nLearn how existing buildings use energy and how to evaluate an existing building's energy use, buildings systems, and occupancy to make energy efficiency-related recommendations. This includes on-site visits to buildings to understand how they are being utilized.\nAssist with building decarbonization projects, gaining an understanding of energy efficiency measures, electrification, energy storage systems, renewable energy, and on-site measurement and verification.\nLearn the basics of embodied carbon in a building's enclosure, structure, and systems. Gain an understanding of trade-offs between embodied and operational carbon at the building level.\nSustainability Consultant Intern Key Responsibilities:\nSupport LEED project reviews by assisting with documentation checks, data entry, and quality assurance for high-volume certification projects.\nCollaborate with sustainability teams and work alongside project managers and analysts to streamline processes and maintain consistency across portfolios.\nDevelop operational tools to help refine templates, tracking systems, and workflow improvements that support scalable certification.\nGain hands-on LEED experience and build practical knowledge in green building standards, documentation pathways, and real-world sustainability operations.\nMinimum Qualifications:\nCurrently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Architectural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Architecture.\nStrong interest in building science, consulting, and sustainability.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.\nExcellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a consulting environment.\nProficiencyin Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint);\nDesired Qualifications:\nBasic knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, lighting, and envelope design.\nFamiliarity with building performance simulation tools (e.g., EnergyPlus, IESVE, or similar) is a plus.\nExperience with AutoCAD or Revit is a plus.\nBranchPattern is a great placeto work!\nBranchPattern is an award-winning firm built by engineers and building scientists who genuinely care about improving people’s lives.
