The team is responsible for how our customers segment and target their users. Every message Braze sends goes through our pipelines, which process billions of users per day. We are a fast-paced team working close to customers in a core and high-impact area of our product.\nYou will build and own features in a complex, high-scale segmentation system that underpins our entire product offering. You’ll work on new segmentation features, help improve performance and cost, and grow your expertise in large-scale data systems. Your responsibilities will include:\nDesign & Build: design and implement features across our Ruby on Rails backend and React frontend, from design review through production rollout\nOwn Features: take ownership of medium-sized projects. Break down the work, set delivery dates, and hit them\nWork with Data at Scale: write and tune queries against MongoDB and ClickHouse, and learn how segmentation performance and cost change with data volume\nCollaborate Cross-Functionally: work closely with product managers, designers, and other engineering teams to clarify requirements and deliver features that meet customer needs\nMaintain & Evolve: write thorough automated tests, review teammates’ code, and take part in the on-call rotation to keep our systems stable and high-quality\nThe team extensively integrates AI into its daily workflow, leveraging agentic tools to navigate our large Ruby monolith, create proof of concepts, and transition quickly and safely from an ask to a working solution. AI has been used across all stages of product delivery, fundamentally enhancing the team’s ability to deliver high-quality results more efficiently.\nWHO YOU ARE\nSoftware Engineering Experience: 2+ years of professional experience building and shipping web applications, in full-stack development or back-end services\nStrong Fundamentals: Solid understanding of software design, data structures, and algorithms\nDatabases: Experience with SQL and at least one production database\nOwnership: Able to take an ambiguous feature request, ask the right questions, and turn it into working, tested code with limited oversight\nSelf-Starter: Great communication and organizational skills, with a history of thriving in team environments\nBonus:\nLanguages/Frameworks: familiarity with Ruby, Ruby on Rails, TypeScript, React, Sidekiq, and SQL/NoSQL databases\nDatabase Experience: previous experience with MongoDB, ClickHouse, Snowflake, or other data lake solutions\nScale: Experience working on a high-scale, high-throughput system\nPassionate about customer experience\nFor candidates based in Canada, the pay range for this position at the start of employment is expected to be between CA$125,280and CA$210,600annually with an expected On Target Earnings (OTE) between CA$139,200- CA$234,000/year (including bonus or commission).
