Our work spans novel battery pack architecture, full-stack software, and automated manufacturing, with the goal of making machines lighter, safer, and more capable.\nWe're building something ambitious, and we're still early. That means real ownership, difficult technical problems, and the opportunity to see your work move from an idea to something real. We value people who think beyond their job description, challenge conventional approaches, and follow through on what they take on.\nBuild something exceptional. Own your work. See it move.\nAbout the Role\nAs Director of Electrical Engineering, you will lead the electrical engineering function at Brelle. This is a hands-on leadership role for an experienced electrical engineer who can set technical direction, lead complex design work, and build a strong team as the company grows.\nYou'll own electrical engineering across our products and programs, from system architecture and electrical design through integration, testing, and validation. You'll work closely with mechanical engineering, firmware, systems integration, and manufacturing to ensure our electrical systems are designed for performance, reliability, manufacturability, and real-world application.\nYou'll also lead and develop our electrical engineering team, providing technical guidance, establishing sound engineering practices, and helping engineers grow in their capabilities and ownership. We're looking for someone who can move comfortably between the big picture and the technical details, making thoughtful engineering decisions while staying close to the work.\nThis is an opportunity to shape both the technology and the team behind it.\nWhat You'll Do\nLead Electrical Engineering\nOwn the electrical engineering function, setting technical direction, priorities, and engineering standards across Brelle's products and programs.\n\nLead electrical system architecture and design, balancing performance, safety, reliability, packaging, weight, cost, and manufacturability.\n\nGuide electrical design across complex electromechanical systems, including power distribution, control systems, ECUs, and supporting electronics.\n\nMake and communicate sound technical decisions, working through tradeoffs and resolving complex design challenges.\n\nEstablish design review, documentation, verification, and validation practices that support quality and consistency as the team scales.\n\nDrive Design, Integration, and Validation\nLead electrical design from early architecture and requirements through detailed design, prototyping, integration, testing, and production.\n\nPartner closely with mechanical engineering, embedded firmware, systems integration, and manufacturing to ensure electrical systems work seamlessly across the product.\n\nOversee the design and integration of electrical interfaces, control electronics, wiring, connectors, and related systems.\n\nWork through system-level issues, lead root cause analysis, and drive problems to resolution.\n\nEnsure designs account for applicable electrical safety requirements, environmental conditions, electromagnetic compatibility, and production constraints.\n\nCollaborate with manufacturing to develop practical, repeatable approaches to assembly, testing, and quality control.\n\nBuild and Lead the Team\nManage, mentor, and develop electrical engineers, including providing technical guidance, setting clear expectations, and supporting individual growth.\n\nEstablish clear ownership, priorities, and accountability across electrical engineering projects.\n\nBuild a collaborative team culture where engineers take initiative, challenge assumptions, and solve problems together.\n\nIdentify capability gaps and help shape the hiring plan as Brelle expands its electrical engineering organization.\n\nDevelop engineering processes and standards that improve execution without adding unnecessary bureaucracy.\n\nWork Across the Business\nPartner with engineering and company leadership to align electrical engineering priorities with customer requirements and business objectives.\n\nWork directly with cross-functional teams and customers to understand technical requirements, communicate tradeoffs, and resolve issues.\n\nBalance competing program needs while maintaining technical quality and execution.\n\nHelp build the engineering organization, tools, and processes needed to support Brelle's next stage of growth.\n\nWhat We're Looking For\nA bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent practical experience.\n\nSignificant experience in electrical engineering, including leading the design and development of complex electrical systems for physical products.\n\nDemonstrated experience leading and developing engineers through direct people management, mentorship, and technical leadership.\n\nDeep understanding of electrical system architecture, circuit design, power distribution, electrical interfaces, and hardware integration.\n\nExperience taking electrical designs from concept through prototyping, testing, validation, and production.\n\nAbility to evaluate technical tradeoffs across performance, reliability, safety, cost, packaging, and manufacturability.\n\nExperience working closely with embedded firmware and control systems, including ECU design and hardware-software integration.\n\nStrong problem-solving skills and the ability to lead technical investigations from initial symptoms through root cause and resolution.\n\nA hands-on approach and the technical depth to engage directly in design reviews, troubleshooting, and complex engineering decisions.\n\nClear communication skills and the ability to work effectively across engineering disciplines, manufacturing, and company leadership.\n\nComfort operating in a growing company where priorities evolve, processes are still being built, and leaders are expected to take ownership beyond their immediate area.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience in one or more of the following would be especially valuable:\nAutomotive, motorsports, powersports, aerospace, robotics, or other complex electromechanical products.\n\nECU architecture and design, embedded control electronics, and hardware-software integration.\n\nHigh-voltage and low-voltage electrical systems, including power distribution and electrical safety.\n\nElectrified powertrains, energy systems, or other electrically driven products.\n\nDesign for manufacturing, automated production, and electrical end-of-line testing.\n\nBuilding or scaling an engineering team in an early-stage or high-growth environment.\n\nHow We Work\nAt Brelle, we value people who take ownership, think beyond their immediate responsibilities, and care about the quality of what they build.\nOur operating principles reflect how we work:\nBig Picture: Understand the broader problem and how your work contributes to the outcome.\n\nTeam First: Work across disciplines, share context, and help the team succeed.\n\nLean In: Take initiative, identify what needs to happen, and step in to make progress.\n\nBe Obsessed: Care deeply about the details, the engineering, and the quality of the result.\n\nFollow Through: Take responsibility for outcomes and see the work through to completion.\n\nWe're looking for a leader who embodies these principles, builds trust through technical judgment and follow-through, and helps create an environment where strong engineers can do their best work.\nCompensation & Benefits\nBase Salary: $210,000 - $260,000\nFinal compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, and the overall fit for the role.\nMeaningful equity participation through Brelle's Employee Incentive Plan.\nMedical, dental, and vision (HMO/PPO)\n\n401(k)\n\nFlexible PTO\n\nTeam meals twice a week\n\nMonthly team events\n\nBrelle is an equal opportunity employer.","description_format":"text","description_chars":8278,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":null,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"bachelor","optional":false},"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":["Equity"],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Electrical
