Reading serves as a regional distribution hub, running a busy fleet that delivers specialty chemicals & ingredients to customers across the surrounding region every day. We need a Transportation & Fleet Manager who owns regional transportation and logistics execution and keeps that operation safe, compliant, and on schedule.\nYou will be on the floor and in the yard, close to the drivers and the trucks. Youownthe daily execution: vehicles maintained and ready, drivers qualified and compliant, and deliveries out the door and across the region on time.\nWhat You'll Own\nFleet and Maintenance\nManage the day-to-day operation of the Reading fleet, including vehicles, equipment, and assigned drivers\n\nRun a preventive maintenance program that keeps trucks ready toroll anddowntime low\n\nTrack vehicle condition, mileage, and repair history, and coordinate maintenance and repairs with service providers\n\nManage fleet costs, from fuel and maintenance to parts and outside vendors\n\nRegional Transportation and Logistics Execution\nOwn outbound transportation and delivery execution across the regional service area, from route planning to final delivery\n\nDirect daily dispatch, routing, and vehicle assignments to hit service and cost targets across regional lanes\n\nOptimize multi-stop routing and vehicle utilization to improve on-time delivery and cost per stop\n\nCoordinate the company fleet with LTL, dedicated, and outside carriers to flex with regional demand and peak volume\n\nSolve the day-to-day problems that keep trucksmoving:breakdowns, driver coverage, and schedule changes\n\nTrack on-time delivery and other regional service metrics and act on what the numbers show\n\nWork closely with the distribution center and customer service to keep product flowing\n\nDOT and Compliance\nKeep the operation fully DOT compliant, including hours of service, driver qualification files, CDL and hazmat endorsements, and inspection records\n\nMaintain accurate, audit-ready documentation for DOT and FMCSA reviews\n\nEnsure hazardous materials are transported safely and in line with 49 CFR and PHMSA requirements\n\nEnforce logbook, ELD, and vehicle inspection standards every day\n\nSafety\nSet the standard for safety on site and make sure every driver gets home the same way theyleft\n\nLead driver safety, accident prevention, and post-incident root cause and corrective action\n\nEnsure compliance with DOT, OSHA, and hazmat safety requirements\n\nServe as the site contact for safety audits, inspections, and driver training\n\nDriver Leadership\nSupervise, coach, and support the driver team day to day\n\nSet clear expectations and hold drivers accountable to safety and performance standards\n\nHandle scheduling, coverage, and driver performance conversations\n\nHelp hire, onboard, and retain strong drivers\n\nWhat You Bring\nHands-on experience managing a fleet and a driver team, ideally in chemical, hazmat, or other regulated freight\n\nTrack record leading regional transportation and logistics execution, including routing, carrier coordination, and on-time delivery\n\nWorking knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations and hazmat transport requirements\n\nUnion experience preferred\n\nComfort being onsite and in the operation every day\n\nA strong safety mindset and the discipline to keep documentation clean and current\n\nAbility to lead and hold drivers accountable while keeping the team engaged\n\nCDL and hazmat endorsement familiarity a plus\n\nOUR OFFER\nWe aim to create an environment where the best people want to work, where they can turn their passion into their job and realize their full potential.\nIndividual development, on-the-job training, and development programs designed to help our employees grow in their careers.\n\nPaid parental leave\n\nEducation assistance program\n\nEmployee assistance program\n\nVarious healthcare plan options as well as 401(k)\n\nINTERESTED?\nWe look forward receiving your application.\nBrenntag provides equal employment opportunities to qualified applicants and employees of all backgrounds and identities to create a workplace where difference is valued because it forms a resilient and more innovative organization.
