The position requires an individual with a strong background in batch chemical production process, excellent time management skills and a proven record of successful leadership skills in a chemical manufacturing industry, or a similar related field.\nYOUR ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIEs\nManage the operations facilities, assets, and personnel, ensuring that all operational activities are conducted safely, efficiently and effectively while ensuring conformance with all Corporate and local policies, programs, legislation and budgets.\nAssist production departments and, if necessary, assume direct supervision of one or more departments.\nDevelop annual expense and capital budget and manage operational activities to control expenses incurred by operations in accordance with the operations budget expectations.\nDevelopment of process descriptions and subsequent training requirements.\nAssist in setting priorities and production schedules based on safety issues, customer needs, equipment failures, and other operational challenges.\nAggressively pursue efficiency improvements.\nManage operational activities to meet inventory and customer demand requirements.\nDevelop and implement operating procedures which improve safety, improve product quality, and/or eliminate operational challenges.\nDevelop and maintain a positive work environment by actively driving employee initiatives aimed at enhancing engagement and satisfaction.\nDevelop redundancy through cross training within production departments. Manage personnel and assign manpower to the greatest need.\nAssist/lead in driving Capital projects from inception to completion.\nQuality/Safety:\nImmediately report all conditions that either could have/or result in safety, quality, and environmental incidents.\nIdentify and recommend changes or improvements, where appropriate, that enhance quality, health, safety, and the efficiency of processes.\nInspect and verify the satisfactory performance of facilities, equipment, and processes.\nParticipate in quality/customer service meetings, assist in project development, drive assigned projects to completion.\nLead/participate in investigations. Ensure assignments for production and the lab investigations are completed in a timely manner.\nParticipate in monthly safety meetings and inspections.\nDrive plant-wide participation in and value-creation through the safety KPI program.\nEmphasize housekeeping to improve safety.\nMonitor and coordinate disposition of waste and nonconforming material.\nManage and enforce production and safety standards.\nOther Functions:\nReview and approve plant invoices.\nParticipate in customer and regulatory audits.\nLead/participate in customer plant visits.\nTraining\nLead/assist operations manager with plant wide meetings.\nTrain operations personnel and ensure maintenance of training records.\nLeadership:\nLeads and inspires a high performing Operations Team that supports Brenntag’s Core Values and the Brenntag Way execution for business conduct and compliance.\nLead by example / be a “servant leader”.\nCoach, guide, and develop direct reports. Hold all reports accountable for performance and safety.\nMentor direct reports.\nExecute performance reviews.\nDiscuss and support pursuit of career progression.\nAdvise operations manager on administration of discipline and issue disciplinary warnings when necessary.\nEducation and Experience:\nCollege degree or equivalent experience required.\nStrong background in batch chemical production process required\n3 to 5 years supervisory experience, preferably in distribution and/or chemical industry.\nExcellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills with both fellow employees and customers.\nStrong supervisory and leadership skills.\nDriven, proactive individual who works well with minimal supervision.\nExcellent organizational skills. 8.
