The ideal candidate will be hands-on, mechanically skilled, and committed to delivering high levels of plant reliability through planned preventative maintenance and continuous improvement. Experience in heavy industry is an advantage, but not essential for a strong mechanical fitter with good PPM discipline and problem-solving ability.\nAbout Your Role\nCarry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) on plant equipment including mixers, conveyors, pumps, bearings, and other mechanical systems.\nComplete inspections, lubrication, adjustments, and minor repairs to maintain equipment reliability.\nReplace worn or high-risk components before failure to reduce unplanned downtime.\nSupport continuous improvement initiatives to improve plant reliability, reduce downtime, and optimise maintenance processes.\nMaintain accurate CMMS entries for all PPM, repairs, and CI activities.\nIdentify recurring mechanical issues and provide recommendations to the CI and engineering teams.\nAssist with installation, modification, and testing of new equipment or improvement projects.\nProvide holiday and sickness cover for the Shift Maintenance Team as required.\nWork collaboratively with engineering, production, CI, and maintenance colleagues to deliver effective plant performance.\nFollow LOTO, PPE, and site safety procedures at all times.\nWe're Looking For\nStrong mechanical maintenance skills (mixers, conveyors, pumps, bearings, gearboxes, drives, etc.).\nTime-served apprenticeship or equivalent mechanical engineering background.\nAbility to perform accurate preventive maintenance tasks and record work effectively.\nGood hands-on fault-finding and mechanical repair skills.\nCMMS experience for logging PPM and maintenance activities.\nStrong understanding of safety processes (LOTO, PPE, H&S practices).\nEffective teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.\nExperience in concrete, aggregates, cement, or heavy industry desirable.\nMulti-skilled capability advantageous.\nKnowledge of predictive maintenance methods desirable.\nExperience in CI, lean manufacturing, or reliability improvement beneficial.\n\nWe'll Offer You\nA competitive salary\nGenerous pension\n25 days annual leave\nLife assurance\nCareer and professional development\nFree onsite parking\nEnhanced parental leave\nEmployee assistance programme \nCycle to work scheme \nEmployee discounts\nPlus more!\nAbout Us\nBrett is the UK’s largest independently owned building materials Group with over 60 sites across the South, South East, East and Midlands and employing over 750 people.\nPart of the Brett Group, Brett Landscaping and Building Products produces and supplies a variety of hard landscaping and building products including block and decorative paving, decorative aggregates, and specialist kerbs.
