The effort requires the maintenance and enhancement of an application and underlying services/microservices’ application’s current capability while identifying future capability needs and eliminating overlaps. The team will continuously improve sustainment and development in order to reinvest resources to provide new capabilities and improve the effectiveness, quality, and robustness of the underlying technology. Our applications are focused on intelligence analysis and collection management directly supporting intelligence analysts and operators across the intelligence community and Combatant Commands. The Database Engineer leads development of databases, database parser software, and database loading software; leads development of database structures that fit into the overall architecture of the system under development; develops requirement recommendations from a project’s inception to its conclusion for a particular Business and IT subject matter area (i.e., simple to complex systems) ; directs the overall database structure that fits into the overall architecture of the system under development and has to make trades among data volumes, number of users, logical and physical distribution, response times, retention rules, security and domain controls. Direct fulfillment of requirements from a project’s inception to it conclusion, directs organization of requirements and data into a usable database schema by directing development of ad hoc queries, scripts, macros, updates to existing queries; direct the development of complex systems using queries, tables, Open Database Connectivity and database storage and retrieval using Cloud methodologies.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities:\nProvides technical expertise for database design, development, implementation, information storage and retrieval, data flow and analysis to include using Oracle, SQL Server, SYBASE, and other DBMS Database and Applications.\nDevelops relational and/or Object-Oriented databases, database parser software, and database loading software.\nProjects long-range requirements for database administration and design.\nResponsible for developing a database structure that fits into the overall architecture of the system under development and has to make trades among data volumes, number of users, logical and physical distribution, response times, retention rules, security and domain controls.\nThe DBE works primarily at the front end of the lifecycle-requirements through system acceptance testing and Initial Operational Capability (IOC).\nDevelops requirements from a project’s inception to its conclusion for a particular business and IT subject matter area (i.e., simple to complex systems).\nAssist with recommendations for, and analysis and evaluation of systems improvements, optimization, development, and/or maintenance efforts.\nParticipates in developing and delivering training as requested by the government to support applications.\nTranslates a set of requirements and data into a usable document by creating or recreating ad hoc queries, scripts, and macros; updates existing queries, creates new ones to manipulate data into a master file; and builds complex systems using queries, tables, Open Database Connectivity and database storage and retrieval using Cloud methodologies.\nRequired Qualifications, Education, and Experience:\nActive TOP SECRET/SCI with a CI polygraph test.\nMust be currently DoD 8570 compliant at IA Technical (IAT)/IA Management (IAM) Level 2.\nExperience working on a development team under a DevSecOps process.\nExperience with multiple configuration management tools and resources.\nUnderstanding of Oracle and/or CENTOS architecture builds, Cloud, full-stack, OpenShift, Postgresql, and Java.\nFamiliar with GitLab, Bitbucket, Confluence, JIRA, Nexus, Jenkins and other DevSecOps tools.\nMust be analytical and effectively able to prioritize needs, requirements, and other issues.\nEducation\nExperience\nHigh School Diploma/ GED\n12\nAssociate's degree\n10\nBachelors’ Degree\n6\nMasters’ Degree\n3\nPhD\n2\nDesired Qualifications, Education, and Experience:\nBachelor’s degree in information technology, or computer science. \nEight (8) or more years of program/application operations, or comparable work experience. \nExperience in the Intelligence Community. \nStrong risk management skills, excellent communication, teamwork and conflict management skills.\nThe Successful Candidate Will Possess:\nProspective candidates should have strong risk management skills, excellent communication, teamwork, and conflict management skills.\nThe candidate must be analytical and effectively able to prioritize needs, requirements, and other issues.\nAbility to communicate and interact effectively at all levels of staff and management.\nAbility to exercise independent judgment, develop relationships, and obtain consensus among interested parties.\nCritical thinker with strong technical skills, diagnostic skills and problem-solving ability\nSolid written and verbal communication skills to negotiate direction, drive projects and projects to successful conclusion and deliver knowledge to team members verbally and via clear designs, runbooks and technical engineering and exchange sessions\nSelf-starter, flexible, adaptable, collaborative and motivated to champion continuous improvement\nAbility to develop peer networks across an enterprise to maintain technology awareness and to support resolution of problems\nAbility to operate across traditional technical boundaries, comfortable working in the compute space as well as the storage space in an operational capacity\nTechnically curious and driven to learn new skills.\nCompensation:\nThe anticipated salary range for this role is $140,000 - $160,000 annually, depending on experience, education, certifications and overall qualifications.\nGeneral Factors:\nDepending on project requirements, may be required to work within a compressed schedule;
