We believe deeply in succeeding by coming to work every day seeking to change the world for the better and providing quality services for our clients and partners.\nBright Power is seeking a highly organized, dynamic, and enthusiastic Commissioning Engineer to join our Building Commissioning team. Commissioning Engineers work with real estate developers, architects, engineers, and contractors throughout the design and construction stages of a new construction and substantial rehab buildings to help ensure project meets the expectations and quality required by the developer/ owner.\nAt Bright Power, commissioning is performed on a variety of buildings in the tri-state area. Commissioning Engineers serve as a critical component of a project team, ensuring that systems are properly designed, installed, tested, and maintained.\nThe ideal candidate will be a quick self-starter with in-depth knowledge of mechanical plumbing and electrical systems, construction processes, and equipment installation practices. Experience with MEP design, plan review, and/or reading design & construction documents is a plus for someone in this role.\nThe Role\nManage commissioning project tasks and coordination with project teams \nAttending client and site meetings \nDevelop building commissioning documents \nDocumenting construction progress in Procore, Salesforce, and Excel \nAssisting with construction inspections \nReviewing submittals, RFI’s, and change orders \nWriting and executing startup and functional testing scripts using commissioning management software (Facility Grid) \nMaintaining project records such as percentage completion, punch lists.\nPrimary tasks\nAdvise on design, installation, testing, and operation as it relates to electrical/mechanical/plumbing building energy systems \nRecommend energy efficiency and resiliency strategies supported by engineering calculations, building science, and simulations \nPrepare all documentation necessary for the commissioning process \nPerform architectural and engineering design reviews and communicate feedback to design teams \nReview of equipment sequence of operations and development of checklists and functional testing scripts during construction to ensure quality installation of systems in accordance with applicable commissioning requirements \nTroubleshoot deficiencies with sub-contractors and/or manufacturers’ representatives \nComplete documentation and reporting associated with commissioning program compliance \nQualifications\nQualifications\nEducation: Degree, or pursuing degree, in Architecture, Engineering, Construction, or other relevant academic programs. \nExcellent organizational and time management skills. \nStrong work ethic and able to work independently and multitask \nCritical thinking and problems solving abilities. \nStrong verbal and written communication skills. \nWilling to travel to existing and new construction buildings. \nInterest in learning about buildings, construction, and how it relates to energy and environmental issues. \nProject management experience \nIdeal candidate will have\nGeneral knowledge of MEP systems and construction best practices for multifamily and commercial buildings \nGeneral knowledge of energy efficiency, storage, and generation technologies \nExperience in building codes and in particular NYC Energy Conservation Code \nOSHA-10 Certification \nStrong working knowledge of the process of commissioning electrical/mechanical/plumbing systems, preferably in new construction buildings. \n2-3 years’ experience, at minimum in the field of mechanical engineering or commissioning is preferred \nKnowledge of LEED, Phius, EnergyStar programs \nWork experience in engineering, particularly with an emphasis on energy efficiency and sustainability \nAbility to read and interpret architectural/mechanical plans and construction documents \nAbility to evaluate and perform engineering calculations related to HVAC systems \nAn understanding of building science and building system design \nExperience performing equipment testing in the field \nExcellent organizational and time management skills \nAbility to problem solve independently and troubleshoot \nStrong adaptable communication \nStrong writing abilities \nCertified Building Commissioning Professional (CBCP) or Certified Commissioning Professional (CCP) a plus \nPreference will be given to candidates that possess strong technical knowledge in the following systems: \nVariable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) \nPumps and Water delivery systems \nVentilation and Exhaust systems (RTUs, AHUs), \nAir and Water TAB Procedures \nCooling Equipment \nEnergy Recovery Ventilators (ERV) \nDomestic Hot Water Heat Pumps \nCondensing hydronic boilers \nBMS systems \nSystem controls \nSalary Range: $75,000 - $95,000\nWork Environment\nJob sites have inherent hazards, based on the activities performed at the site. Protective equipment (such as: work-boots, safety glasses, hardhats, hearing protection, etc.,) may be required to be worn at times while on a job site, due to construction and safety hazards that may be present.\nThe noise level may warrant hearing protection. Visits to Job Sites may result in exposures to various hazards (such as: to extreme heat (100+F in boiler rooms), carbon monoxide, asbestos, lead paint, moldy dusty attics/crawlspaces, fiberglass insulation, hot pipes and/or hot metal, or high noise levels, etc.). Employees must be capable of using protective equipment and following specific safety procedures, as needed.\nPhysical Demands\nThe employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision and hearing abilities may be required by this job, which include close vision and ability to adjust focus based on the task and surrounding activity. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
