While we are growing rapidly, we are also selective: We’re seeking inspired, talented people who want to be effecting profound change and who have fun doing it.\nPosition Summary\nWe are looking for an Accountant to join our dynamic Accounting/Finance team. The Accountant is part of the finance team and should be organized, detail-oriented, resourceful and motivated individual. This position requires experience in the areas of accounts payable, data entry, and problem-solving. Primary responsibilities include entering high volume vendor payments, applying payments to the appropriate program and accounts, and resolving errors as they arise.\nThe Accountant will report to the Accounting Supervisor and work closely with a team of accountants. The Accountant is required to maintain a collaborative working relationship with BC personnel. Ensures timely financial obligations by reviewing payments and approvals.\nPosition Responsibilities\nProcess accounts payable, including checks, ACH, and wire transfers, ensuring invoices are properly approved, correctly calculated, and match printed checks\nProcess a high volume of utility payments\nRespond to vendor inquiries promptly, maintaining a positive and collaborative approach\nReconcile vendor statements and address any discrepancies\nSet up new vendors and maintain accurate vendor files, including obtaining W-9 documents\nInvestigate and resolve account discrepancies by working with internal departments, vendors, and customers\nProcess daily check runs, and urgent checks as needed\nDrive to drop off checks at USPS daily and at FedEx quarterly rotation with team\nPost month-end accruals \nAssist with year-end audit preparations\nAssist with 1099 preparation\nVerify daily Salesforce data\nPerform other duties as assigned by the Accounting Supervisor\nRequirements\nProfessional Experience\nBasic Qualifications:\nStrong understanding of GAAP requirements\nAnalytical and detail-oriented with the ability to see the bigger picture and meet deadlines\nAbility to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks independently and as part of a team\nHigh degree of discretion and sound judgment\nExcellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with strict adherence to confidentiality\nKnowledge of funding agency relations, compliance requirements, and donor expectations related to gift stewardship\nProficiency in MS Word, Excel, and databases\nExperience with Sage Intacct Accounting Software is preferred\nSalesforce knowledge is a plus\nKnowledge, Skills and Abilities\nLANGUAGE SKILLS - Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical publications, government contracts, leases, regulatory documents, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to write reports that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, boards of directors, and public groups.\nMATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as interest, proportions, percentages, and area. Ability to apply basic math and geometry concepts to practical situations. Facility with Microsoft Excel and ability to use a financial calculator.\nREASONING ABILITY - Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. As a member of the OPEIU, LOCAL 30, AFL-CIO, the incumbent will be subject to the terms and conditions outlined in the collective bargaining agreement\nSalary range for this position is $28.85 - $38.94 per hour .
