You will be the first and primary mobile engineer, owning it from architecture and first commit through launch, and then through ongoing maintenance and improvement. Working with Product, Design, and our platform engineering teams, you will make technical decisions that shape how the app looks, performs, and scales.\nThis role is ideal for an engineer who loves zero-to-one work, is comfortable making decisions independently, and wants to see their work in customers' hands quickly.\nWho You Are\nA builder who has taken a mobile app from idea to production and wants to do it again.\n\nSelf-directed and comfortable being the sole engineer on a product, while knowing when to ask for input and bring others in.\n\nPragmatic: you balance speed with quality and know when to ship and when to polish.\n\nA clear communicator who can explain technical trade-offs to non-technical teammates.\n\nCurious about AI tools and eager to use them to move faster and build better.\n\nWhat You’ll Do\nDesign and build Brim's new mobile app from scratch, owning architecture, implementation, testing, and release.\n\nChoose and set up the app's tech stack, project structure, CI/CD pipeline, and coding standards.\n\nPartner with Product and Design to turn requirements and mockups into polished, intuitive user experiences.\n\nIntegrate with Brim's APIs and backend services, working with platform engineers where changes are needed.\n\nBuild with security, privacy, and reliability in mind, given the financial services context.\n\nManage the app store submission and release process for both the Apple App Store and Google Play.\n\nAfter launch, monitor performance and stability, fix bugs, and ship regular improvements based on user feedback and data.\n\nDocument the codebase and key decisions so the app can be handed off or scaled to a larger team as it grows.\n\nWhat You’ll Bring\n5+ years of professional experience building and shipping mobile applications, including 3+ years with a cross-platform framework.\n\nStrong proficiency in React Native, with working knowledge of native iOS and Android (Swift/Kotlin) for platform-specific features.\n\nExperience launching at least one app to the App Store and/or Google Play and managing the release process.\n\nExperience integrating with REST APIs and working with authentication, state management, and local data storage.\n\nSolid understanding of mobile UI/UX best practices, performance optimization, and accessibility.\n\nExperience with automated testing and CI/CD for mobile.\n\nStrong ownership mindset and the ability to prioritize and deliver with limited oversight.\n\nBonus if You Have\nExperience in fintech, payments, banking, or other regulated industries.\n\nFamiliarity with mobile security practices (secure storage, biometrics, certificate pinning, etc.).\n\nExperience with digital wallets, push provisioning, or card management features.\n\nExperience being the first or only engineer on a product.\n\nExperience using AI-assisted development tools in your daily workflow.\n\nWhat We Offer\nCompetitive compensation and equity.\n\nRemote-first workplace (Eastern Time).\n\nComprehensive health plan and PTO.\n\nA team that treats AI as a force multiplier, not a threat.\n\nReal ownership - you'll shape the processes and standards that drive how we deliver customer value.\n\nOther Information\nRemote (Canada ET).\n\nCompensation: CA $125,000 to CA$155,000.\n\nBase salary range: For this role, candidates can expect a base salary range, described in the posting.
