Our passion is building.\nResponsibilities\nDriving continuous improvement by staying updated on industry best practices, tools, and technologies related to cost management\nSupport the implementation of process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of project execution\nGenerating reports and templates for Operations use on projects and/or at the Director level\nSupport the development of proof-of-concepts for new reporting tools\nDeveloping feedback loop system for Operations to request data/reporting\nMonitoring financial controls process compliance across projects\nAssisting in the integration of company systems to track, monitor, and control financial data\nConduct meetings with project teams to review processes, project financial status, identify areas of improvement, and upskill our workforce\nPerform regular project reviews and monitor projects against key performance indicators (KPIs)\nAssist with the preparation and maintenance of detailed job cost forecasts and revenue projections\nSupporting monthly cost reporting cycles in accordance with company deadlines\nAssisting Operations in analyzing budget variances and forecast adjustments\nIdentifying financial risks, exposure, and contingency usage\nEnsuring proper cost coding and adherence to company standards\nReviewing project startup budget setup and financial closeout\nTraining project teams on company standards, working with leadership to improve and refine standards\nIdentifying inconsistencies in project financials and work to resolve\nDeveloping and delivering financial training and resources for operations\nParticipating in project financial review meetings\nAssisting with portfolio-level roll-up reporting as needed\nOther duties as assigned\nQualifications\nBachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field\n2+ years of proven experience in cost management, project engineering, project controls, or similar role within the construction industry\nStrong understanding of construction budgets, forecasting, and financial reporting\nProficiency in Procore and project financial tools\nAnalytical mindset with excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail\nEffective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse project teams\nAbility to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously\nWorking Conditions:\nThe Cost Controls Engineer’s work is primarily performed indoors out of a main office or field office at the construction site; occasionally outdoors in various weather conditions with some exposure to health or safety hazards, including noise level may range from moderate to loud\nPosition will require travel, and potentially being at a field office full time\nLight physical effort is required, including the handling of objects up to 20 pounds and some standing, walking, sitting, talking and/or hearing\nEnvironment will be demanding and fast paced\nAt Brinkmann Constructors, our passion for people means investing in their financial, mental, and physical well-being.
