This role ensures that safety is fully integrated into planning, execution, and commissioning activities where downtime, failure, or incident is not an option.\nThis individual partners closely with Operations, MEP teams, and subcontractors to proactively identify and mitigate risk, maintain compliance, and uphold Brinkmann’s commitment to delivering safe, high-performance environments.\nBrinkmann’s purpose is people. Our passion is building-but in mission-critical, safety is foundational to protecting lives, schedules, and billions in client investment.\nResponsibilities\nChampion a zero-incident safety culture across all phases of construction, reinforcing accountability at every level of the jobsite \nLead daily engagement with subcontractors, field teams, and leadership to ensure alignment on safety expectations and execution \nIntegrate safety into preconstruction planning, work sequencing, and high-risk activity coordination \nPerform advanced hazard identification and job hazard analyses (JHA/HIRA), particularly for high-risk scopes such as energized electrical work, crane operations, confined spaces, and commissioning activities \nProactively identify and manage risks associated with fast-track schedules, overlapping trades, and high-density jobsite conditions common in data center construction\nSupport development and maintenance of risk registers and mitigation strategies tied to safety, schedule, and operational readiness\nEnforce safety protocols around high-energy systems including electrical distribution, arc-flash hazards, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and live system commissioning \nCoordinate closely with MEP teams and trade partners to ensure safe installation, testing, and startup of critical infrastructure systems such as UPS, switchgear, and generators \nConduct frequent jobsite inspections, audits, and observations to identify hazards and ensure compliance with Brinkmann, OSHA, and client-specific standards \nLead incident investigations, perform root cause analysis, and drive timely corrective and preventive actions \nMaintain required safety documentation including OSHA logs, inspection reports, permits, and training records \nDeliver site-specific orientations and ongoing safety training to support a large, multi-shift workforce \nCoach field teams and subcontractors on hazard recognition, safe work practices, and behavior-based safety principles \nPartner with project managers, superintendents, and safety leadership to ensure safety is embedded in all project decisions and workflows\nInterface with clients, insurers, and regulatory agencies to ensure alignment with strict mission-critical safety expectations \nMonitor and manage PPE compliance, ensuring standards meet or exceed client and project requirements often above OSHA minimums\nAnalyze leading and lagging indicators to identify trends and proactively prevent incidents \nSupport implementation of digital safety tools, reporting systems, and continuous improvement initiatives\nQualifications\n5-8+ years of construction safety experience (mission-critical / data center preferred)\nExperience on large, complex, fast-track projects with multiple subcontractors\nStrong knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, and mission-critical safety standards\nProven experience managing safety in high-energy environments (electrical, mechanical, commissioning)\nAbility to lead safety efforts across diverse teams and communicate effectively at all levels\nPreferred:\nData center / mission-critical project experience\nCSP, CHST, or similar certification\nExperience with commissioning-phase safety and live-system environments\nAt Brinkmann Constructors, our passion for people means investing in their financial, mental, and physical well-being.
