The Sushi Shift Supervisor must have the necessary confidence, commitment, and motivation to move their staff and themselves towards success. Must be self-motivated; having strong leadership skills; good listening skills, strong communication skills, extraordinary customer service skills; applied empathy; and possess a strong sense of urgency in all duties performed. They must know how to keep morale high among the Sushi department staff; serve the customers to develop and retain repeat business; keep the Sushi department clean and up to par with Bristol Farms Lazy Acres standards and lastly create an environment that’s welcoming, warm and friendly. Due to Bristol Farms Lazy Acres goals and structure, the Sushi Shift Supervisor should also be open to growth and expansion. \n\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\nIn addition to performing all required duties of a Sushi Clerk, the Sushi Shift Supervisor is responsible for the supervision and coordination of activities the Sushi department staff will perform. Responsibilities include; but are not limited to, planning, assigning, and directing work; staff development, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. The Sushi Shift Supervisor will assist in overseeing the selling of all related items of the Sushi counter. They are also responsible for carrying out the duties listed below (other duties may be assigned)\nLeads by example; models correct behavior and adherence to company policies and procedures\nResponsible for using the tools provided by management to ensure the success of the department\nRequired to perform all essential duties of a Sushi Clerk\nFills customer’s orders as requested\nMake sushi following Bristol Farms Lazy Acres instructions & recipes as provided\nOperates a cash register following established policies and procedures\nResponsible for the accurate recording of customer transactions, including the acceptance of payment in accordance with Bristol Farms Lazy Acres cash register procedures\nResponsible for accurate balancing of cash register\nAssists with duties and examines work for compliance of policies and procedures\nMust be knowledgeable of merchandise sold in the Sushi Department and educate customers and staff on preparation and use of merchandise\nAssists with ordering, receiving, and merchandising \nAssists with orders of all Sushi all related items for the department\nPrices merchandise according to handheld scanner and verifies price against purchase order \nReports/documents price discrepancies and “not on file” items\nProcesses purchase order for implementation at required deadline\nResponsible for implementing and maintaining all marketing programs\nAssists in training & developing all Sushi Department employees in product knowledge, suggestive selling techniques, merchandising techniques, & customer service skills on an on-going basis\nAssists in conducting inventory, preparing for inventory, and inventory results\nAssists in the maintenance of inventory control especially for theft, shrink, & waste management\nAssists with the price integrity and proper weights and measures as mandated by California State Laws \nMaintains a clean and sanitary work area at all times\nKnows all cleaning chemicals authorized in the Sushi Department and understands proper usage\nAssists with all Sushi Department employees on proper use of cleaning chemicals\nFollows the FIFO rotation system (First-in, First-out). Covers, labels, and dates all Sushi & products used in department. Utilizes leftover supplies & products before opening new product\nMaintains quality and sanitation in accordance with the FDA and local health departmental codes and Bristol Farms Lazy Acres stringent standards\nFollows & enforces safety work standards and reports any safety hazards to the Manager of Service and/or Store Director\nAssists with monthly safety meetings and/or distributes monthly Safety News to staff within accordance to Cal Osha SB 198\nDocuments all meetings/memos/postings and obtains employees signatures as required\nAssists with conducting accident investigations and completing all paperwork within accordance to Cal Osha SB 198\nResponsible for enforcing Bristol Farms Lazy Acres established Customer Service policies and guidelines\nServes customers with a smile and willing attitude. Assures high sales through establishing relationships with customers to ensure repeat business & continued Sushi education\nListens to customer complaints, examines returned merchandise, and resolves problems to restore and promote good public relations\nAvailability requirements include; but are not limited to; days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and occasional overnight\nAt all times, meets and exceeds Bristol Farms Lazy Acres standards in service, appearance, quality, cleanliness, and leadership\n\nSupervisory Responsibilities\nCarries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Bristol Farms Lazy Acres policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include assisting with the training of employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.\n\nCustomer Service Skills\nSushi Shift Supervisors are expected to provide customer service that is extra ordinary and exceeds the expectations of our customers. They are required to follow established policies and guidelines that go beyond simply smiling and greeting customers. Going above and beyond encompasses attitudes, respect, and flexibility. Sushi Shift Supervisors are expected to have a positive “can-do” attitude; to treat others with respect; and easily adjust to changes in the workplace.\n\nEducation and/or Experience\nHigh School diploma or general education degree (GED); three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.\n\nLanguage Skills\nAbility to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, or employees of Bristol Farms Lazy Acres.\n\nKnowledge of English\nThis is a customer service driven position. The candidate must have the ability to speak, read and understand English fluently. Ability to listen to all complaints, suggestions, comments, and implement those that work.\n\nMathematical Skills\nAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, percentages, and volume.\n\nReasoning Ability\nAbility to apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to resolve conflicts in such a manner to create a win-win situation. Ability to analyze a variety of situations, think through to a solution and implement the solution.\nPhysical Demands\nWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand for long period of time; walk; frequent use of hands; hands to finger; handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
