Role Purpose

The role is a key part of the FP&A Product Development and Support team, contributing to the ongoing stability, optimisation, and effective use of Anaplan as the Finance Planning & Analysis (FP&A) tool across the British Council. This position is primarily focused on data stewardship activities, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of Anaplan data, manage Anaplan master data hierarchies, and maintain robust governance over security policies and compliance. Additionally, the role will oversee the Anaplan data quality processes, address enrichment requests, and drive continuous improvement to support reliable and efficient planning globally across the British Council’s Strategic Business Units.

Role Accountabilities

The role is responsible for overseeing the quality, governance, and security of Anaplan data. This includes monitoring and maintaining master data quality within Anaplan, liaising with data owners and source system teams (SAP, myHR, etc.), performing regular data quality checks to identify inconsistencies, duplicates, and errors, and developing data validation rules and standards. The role owns and maintains the Anaplan security model, ensuring compliance with data governance and security policies through regular reviews and updates of user roles and access rights. It also manages the creation and maintenance of Anaplan Master Data Mappings, validates mapping changes prior to deployment, and collaborates with Master Data Management (MDM) teams and designated Data Owners to resolve data quality issues and discrepancies. Additionally, the role maintains the integrity and accuracy of financial planning data, works closely with model builders to ensure data structures align with business requirements, and documents Anaplan data flows, mappings, and governance processes.

The role is also accountable for supporting data enrichment, integration, continuous improvement, and project delivery activities within the Anaplan ecosystem. This includes raising and coordinating data enrichment requests with the Anaplan Integration Analyst to support system interfaces and reporting requirements, ensuring enrichment activities are completed accurately and on time, and identifying opportunities to streamline data processes and strengthen data governance. The role supports the documentation of data standards, processes, and workflows, as well as testing and validation activities during system upgrades and new model deployments. Operating within an agile framework, the role supports sprint planning, execution, reviews, and retrospectives; serves as the primary point of contact for Anaplan data-related queries from FP&A teams; communicates data issues and resolutions effectively to non-technical stakeholders; identifies risks and issues in integration projects and proposes mitigation strategies; and collaborates with Product Management to provide strategic guidance on the future direction of Anaplan data integration.
