Level filled is commensurate upon experience and current location.\nAs a Risk Management Engineer, you should be fully competent in all conventional aspects of Fire Protection Engineering and Property Loss Prevention consulting at natural gas extraction plants, natural gas pipeline facilities, LNG import/export facilities, commercial facilities and office buildings.\nThe position will perform and/or review fire protection engineering calculations, analysis, research, and design. The position will also provide risk reduction recommendations and associated cost estimates (e.g. cost for equipment installation/upgrade) for management review.\nUnder direction of supervisor or work leader, the individual will exercise independence in evaluating, selecting, and applying loss control and fire protection standards or well-defined fire protection engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.\nIndependent judgment will be used in prioritizing and making moderately complex adaptations and modifications. The application of fire protection engineering principles, industry standards and other guidance to develop risk reduction solutions is critical to this role.\nResponsible for planning, analyzing, designing, and coordinating maintenance projects for facility fire protection systems. \nThe incumbent will serve as the NFPA/building code/fire protection Subject Matter Expert (SME) and is required to be proficient in understanding, implementing, and enforcing NFPA codes and standards. \nManages the All-Risk Insurance inspections, the jurisdictional and non-jurisdictional boiler inspections, leads the risk management portion of annual HCA Facility Audits, and serves as the liaison between BHE GT&S and BHE Corporate Insurance. \nManages the BHE GT&S Storage/Transit Insurance program and Fire Protection Impairment program for BHE GT&S.\nSole individual contributor for Risk Management for BHE GT&S.\nEnsure compliance with codes, laws, and company policies. \nResponsible for adherence to both capital and operations & maintenance budgets and schedules. \nPrepare requisitions for materials & equipment, design services, and construction services.\nEvaluate proposals/bids and make recommendations for awards for materials or services. \nServes as the National Fire Protection Association/building code/fire protection subject matter expert. \nEnsure accuracy of as-built information for assigned projects.\nManages the All-Risk Insurance inspections and the jurisdictional and non-jurisdictional boiler inspections.\nLeads the risk management portion of annual High Consequence Area Facility Audits\nServes as the liaison with BHE Corporate Insurance.\nManages the BHE GT&S Storage and Transit Insurance program and Fire Protection Impairment program.\nProvides support for all hazard and operability studies (HAZOP) and layers of protection analyses (LOPA)\nEvaluate inspection reports to identify potential improvements and formulate recommendations.\nPlans, executes, and oversees all risk engineering related to capital projects.\nAdminister/manage the engineering components of service agreements, design contracts, and construction contracts\n**Position requires extensive travel during peak season Jan-Apr (up to 50% overnight). Remainder of the year may require up to 25% overnight travel.\n Qualifications:\nEngineer I:\n0-2+ years of related engineering experience\nEngineering degree from an accredited college/university, Internship preferred.\nEngineer II:\nEngineering degree from an accredited college/university and 1-3 years' experience.\nSr Engineer:\nEngineering degree from an accredited college/university and 5 years industry experience. PE license preferred.\nEngineer I/ Engineer II:\nFour-year ABET accredited engineering degree (Engineer)\nAbility to monitor changes in technology with skill in developing, testing and recommending new ideas and strategies for the utilization of those changes.\nDemonstrated ability to interpret engineering schematics, drawings, and technical manuals.\nDemonstrated ability to prepare technical reports, project schedules, and cost estimates.\nAbility to lead, work independently, communicate effectively, and establish rapport.\nAbility to define problems, collect accurate data, draw valid conclusions, and develop solutions.\nDemonstrated ability to effectively operate a personal computer and common software applications.\nSr Engineer:\nFour-year ABET accredited engineering degree (Engineer)\nFull knowledge of engineering theories and principles.\nSkilled in use of advanced techniques and modification and extension of theories, precepts and practices of the field and related sciences and disciplines.\nStrong leadership skills with proven ability to serve as team project lead.\nProvide guidance to less experienced engineers.\nStrong oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing).\nStrong personal computer skills.\nAbility to think analytically and solve complex problems.\nAbility to interpret codes, regulations and practices.\nIn depth knowledge of various computer applications, with the ability to manipulate personal computer applications and perform engineering calculations using applicable software programs (e.g., Matlab, Excel, etc.).\nEqually effective working independently or in team environment.\nProven decision-making skills.\nAbility to process information quickly and effectively manage multiple tasks.\nStrong planning, organizational and project management skills.\nEducation\nBachelor\nPreferred Degree\nEngineering required.\nREQUIRED ENGINEERING CRITERIA:\nFor placement of a candidate in the Engineer job series, the following criteria must be met:\nPossess a 4-year engineering degree from an ABET accredited engineering program based on the year that the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or\nPossess a 4-year engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or\nPossess a 4-year engineering degree from a non-ABET accredited program and a post-graduate engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same engineering discipline is ABET accredited based on the year the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or\nPossess a 4-year degree in Physics, Chemistry, Math or Engineering Technology and a post-graduate engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same engineering discipline is ABET accredited based on the year the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or\nHolds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license.\nEmployees must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without an accommodation.\nAll qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability or veteran status.\nPosition descriptions are developed as guides for the employees of BHE GT&S.
