The engineer will develop and own GitOps-driven workflows, understand the broader IaC architecture, and help the rest of the team work effectively within it.\nBenefits:\nComprehensive Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance\nEmployer-Paid Life Insurance\nEmployer-Paid Short-Term and Long-Term Disability Insurance\n401(k)\nPaid Time Off (PTO) that includes Vacation Leave, Sick Leave, and 11 Paid Holidays\nEducational Assistance\nSalary: $125K-$150K (Based on experience and overall fit)\n**Open to Remote in VA, MD, WV, PA, and TX**\nClick here to learn about BRMi's culture.\nClick here to see BRMi’s Glassdoor reviews\nResponsibilities\nDesign, develop, and maintain IaC for server provisioning, configuration, lifecycle management, and operational automation.\nBuild and maintain reusable Ansible roles/playbooks, modules, inventories, templates, and supporting scripts.\nDevelop GitOps-oriented workflows using pull requests, code review, automated validation, CI/CD pipelines, approval gates, and controlled deployment practices.\nTranslate infrastructure requirements into maintainable code, documentation, runbooks, and repeatable operational procedures.\nImprove infrastructure reliability, consistency, and auditability by reducing manual configuration and eliminating configuration drift.\nSupport production Linux server operations, including troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, incident response, patching, and change management.\nPartner with networking, storage, identity, security, application, HPC, and research computing stakeholders.\nMentor team members on Git workflows, infrastructure automation standards, code review practices, and safe use of IaC tooling.\nSupport secure automation practices, including secrets handling, least privilege access, auditability, and compliance-driven configuration management.\nProvide engineering support and input into architecture team efforts.\nPerform other duties as assigned\nQualifications\nConfiguration management at depth using Ansible and/or Puppet, with Git as the authoritative source of truth (PR-based change control, CI/CD pipelines).\n\nAutomated provisioning of virtual, cloud, and bare-metal infrastructure using tools such as Ansible or Terraform.\n\nStrong Linux server administration experience.\n\nExcellent scripting skills using Python, Bash, or similar to build and maintain automation.\n\nExperience building CI/CD validation for IaC repositories, including linting, syntax validation, test execution, and controlled deployments.\n\nProficiency with Git-based engineering workflows, including branching strategies, pull requests, code review, merge conflict resolution, release tagging, repository standards, and mentoring teammates in effective Git usage.\n\nWorking knowledge of supporting infrastructure such as networking, DNS, shared storage, and identity management.\n\nEffective collaboration with engineers across disciplines and directly with customers, including researchers and other technical subject matter experts.\n\nAbility to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance.\n\n5+ years of relevant infrastructure engineering experience, including at least 2 years building production Infrastructure as Code or configuration management automation.\n\nSupplementary Skills:\nWindows server administration experience.\nHPC and research computing experience.\nFamiliarity with secrets management and identity integration.\nExperience in a regulated or compliance-driven environment (FISMA, NIST 800-53).\nExperience with virtualization platforms such as VMware.\nExposure to monitoring, backup, and data center operations.\nBroader software development background.\n** BRMi will not sponsor applicants for work visas for this position.**\n**This is a W2 opportunity only**\nEOE/Minorities/Females/Vet/Disabled\nWe are an equal opportunity employer that values diversity and commitment at all levels.
