We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer who operates at the intersection of systems engineering and modern software design. In this role, you will help build a unified ecosystem of tools, common libraries, and automation frameworks that empower our Mainframe product teams to deliver high-quality, accessible, and consistent solutions.\nJoin our Mainframe Division to leverage your dual expertise in z/OS environments and modern software practices to drive the future of enterprise software modernization.\nKey Responsibilities\nPlatform & Tooling Development: Design, develop, and maintain high-impact software, common libraries, and developer tools used across all Broadcom Mainframe product teams.\nMainframe Modernization: Integrate modern CI/CD pipelines, automation scripts, and AI-assisted workflows into traditional z/OS development environments.\nCross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product Management, User Experience, and Engineering leadership to define technical requirements, contribute to strategic roadmaps, and build scalable solutions.\nQuality & Reliability: Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve complex issues across both development and production environments, ensuring high enterprise-grade performance.\nTechnical Leadership: Support agile practices, participate in iteration demos, mentor team members, and promote modern software engineering principles within the division.\nTechnical Qualifications & Experience\nMainframe & Systems Expertise:\nHands-on experience with IBM Mainframe z/OS environments, system components, and product maintenance.\nProven experience performing software installations and maintenance using SMP/e and z/OSMF.\nModern Software Engineering & DevOps:\nStrong proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or Groovy.\nsolid experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Git, Jenkins, and related tools.\nHands-on experience with automation tools (e.g., Ansible) to build self-service workflows and streamline routine administrative tasks.\nFamiliarity with AI-assisted development tools to accelerate scripting, pipeline creation, and troubleshooting.\nPreferred / Bonus Qualifications:\nExperience designing and integrating RESTful Web Services and Cloud platform interfaces.\nSolid understanding of software system design concepts for enterprise-grade solutions.\nLeadership & Soft Skills\nProblem-Solving: Ability to translate complex business and technical requirements into structured, executable solutions.\nCommunication: Clear, effective communication skills with the ability to create knowledge-transfer documentation, present solution demos, and collaborate across distributed teams.\nAdaptability: High self-motivation and an eagerness to learn, adopt, and apply emerging technologies to enterprise business needs.\nEducation & Experience Requirements\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field with 5+ years of professional software development experience; OR\nMaster’s degree in a related field with 3+ years of professional software development experience.\nLocation & Equal Opportunity\nMust be located in the US to support multiple US business hours, production environments, and R&D lab locations (e.g., Pittsburgh, PA, Plano, TX, or Lisle, IL).\nBroadcom is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
