This role focuses on our non-mainframe applications, with opportunities to expand your experience into mainframe software.\nThis role is in the Mainframe DevOps value stream, as a software engineer for one of our flagship products, Gen (formerly known as COOL:Gen or CA Gen). Gen is a low-code, model-driven development environment for enterprise applications. This is a hands-on technical role: you will write code, contribute to code reviews, and influence technical standards and testing strategies. Your natural curiosity keeps you well informed of the latest technologies, and deepens your knowledge of legacy systems that are the foundation of global enterprise.\nWhat You’ll Do\nResearch, develop, and implement high-quality, secure software solutions to maintain and enhance Gen's core product capabilities for non-mainframe applications.\n\nTroubleshoot and fix customer cases that have been escalated to engineering.\n\nContribute to technical design to ensure robust security standards, while retaining a simple user experience.\n\nProvide subject matter expertise by authoring technical blogs, webinars, and documentation on best practices.\n\nOffer thought leadership directly to enterprise customers, helping them navigate complex business requirements and advising them on Gen modernization and security best practices.\n\nWhat You Need\nMinimum of 8 years of experience in software development.\n\nBA/BS in Computer Science or equivalent degree.\n\nStrong analytical skills and the ability to understand complex component relationships.\n\nGrowth mindset with a commitment to continuous personal and professional development.\n\nStrong problem analysis and debugging skills\n\nDeep expertise and hands-on coding experience with Java, C#, C, and/or C++\n\nExperience in Windows, Unix, and Linux operating systems.\n\nExpertise in relational databases.\n\nKnowledge and related experience in one or more of the following: Cloud Native Architectures, Containers, .NET, TCP/IP, Tuxedo, WebSphere, Liberty, WebLogic, JBoss (WildFly), InstallAnywhere, Eclipse\n\nExperience with designing and using web APIs like gRPC, REST etc\n\nAdditional skills that will benefit your efforts\nExperience working with language servers or compilers.\n\nUnderstanding of complex microservices, databases, and Client-Server communication.\n\nDemonstrated experience implementing cybersecurity principles (e.g., cryptography, secure coding practices, access controls) and using industry-standard products like passkeys and TLS.\n\nExperience in object-oriented programming (OOP) principles and Component Based Development (CBD).\n\nSkilled with automation for test and CI/CD implementation.\n\nExperience with Source Code Management tools, such as GitHub.\n\nKnowledge and related product expertise in any of the following: Python, Typescript, Docker, Kubernetes, Spring Boot, Jakarta, Oracle, Db2, MS SQL Server, ODBC, JDBC, ADO.NET, COM, Windows MFC, Jenkins, Ansible.\n\nExperience with mainframe technologies.\n\nExperience developing with or maintaining Gen.\n\nCompensation and Benefits\nThe annual base salary range for this position is USD 109,700.00 To USD 175,500.00\nAs a valued member of our team, you'll be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus and the opportunity to receive not only a competitive new hire equity grant, but also annual equity awards, connecting your success directly to the company's growth.
