Working alongside experienced colleagues in a professional workshop, you will build the practical knowledge, technical skills and behaviours needed to inspect, service, repair and prepare bicycles to a consistently high standard.\nAlongside your day-to-day role, you will complete the Level 2 Bicycle Mechanic Apprenticeship (ST0622). Your formal apprenticeship training is included and combines workplace learning, online study, coaching and two short block-release technical courses. The programme normally lasts 18 months, followed by up to three months for the End Point Assessment. Successful completion leads to industry-recognised Cytech training and accreditation.\nYou do not need to be an experienced mechanic. We are looking for someone who is curious, practical and keen to learn, with a genuine interest in bikes, quality and how things work.\nKey Responsibilities\nLearning the Craft\nWork alongside experienced bike mechanics to build confidence in bicycle inspection, servicing, repair and maintenance.\nLearn to diagnose faults accurately and complete work using the correct tools, methods and technical information.\nDevelop practical capability across complete bike servicing, wheel building and bike preparation.\nBuild a strong understanding of Brompton products, components and quality standards.\nAsk questions, seek feedback and apply learning to improve the quality and efficiency of your work.\nWorkshop Delivery\nSupport the safe and efficient flow of work through the workshop, completing assigned tasks carefully and on time.\nCheck your work thoroughly and raise any concerns, faults or quality issues with your manager or mentor.\nUse, maintain and store tools and equipment correctly, keeping work areas clean, organised and safe.\nFollow all health and safety, workshop and quality procedures, including the correct handling of bicycles, parts and materials.\nMaintain accurate job, service and training records as required.\nTreat every bicycle with care and contribute to a positive, supportive and high-performing team environment.\nCustomer & Product Experience\nLearn how to explain completed work clearly and provide a professional bike handover.\nBuild confidence communicating with colleagues and, where relevant, customers about repairs, maintenance and bike care.\nRepresent Brompton's commitment to quality, craftsmanship and a brilliant customer experience in every task.\nYour Apprenticeship\nTake an active role in all elements of the apprenticeship, including workplace coaching, online learning, coursework, practical assessments and technical training.\nComplete a minimum of six hours of off-the-job training each week during the 18-month programme, supported within your working hours.\nAttend the two required block-release Cytech courses at one of the training provider's workshops.\nWork towards Cytech Technical Two and Cytech Technical Three as part of the apprenticeship.\nKeep your learning portfolio and evidence up to date, and prepare for the independent End Point Assessment.\nSuccessfully complete the End Point Assessment, which includes an observed full bike service, an observed wheel build, a customer service and bike handover role play, and an interview based on portfolio evidence and coursework.\nSkills\n\nPractical Learning - Enjoys hands-on work and can apply instructions, demonstrations and feedback to build new skills.\n\nQuality & Attention to Detail - Works carefully, checks their work and takes pride in getting the details right.\n\nProblem Solving - Approaches faults logically, stays curious and is willing to investigate how things work.\n\nOrganisation & Reliability - Arrives prepared, manages learning and work commitments, and completes agreed tasks on time.\n\nCommunication & Teamwork - Listens well, asks for help when needed and contributes positively to the team.\n\nSafety & Responsibility - Understands the importance of following workshop, quality and health and safety procedures.\n\nContinuous Improvement - Welcomes feedback and looks for practical ways to develop their skills and improve their work.\n\nCustomer Focus - Understands that careful technical work and clear communication shape the customer's experience of Brompton.\nWhat You'll Bring\nA genuine interest in bicycles, mechanics, engineering or practical problem solving.\nMotivation to complete a structured apprenticeship and build a long-term career in bicycle mechanics.\nA careful, responsible approach and willingness to follow technical and safety instructions.\nA positive attitude, curiosity and confidence to ask questions and learn from others.\nThe ability to work collaboratively and communicate clearly.\nCommitment to working onsite in Greenford in a practical workshop environment.\nEligibility for the apprenticeship, including working in England and meeting the training provider's initial assessment requirements in maths and English.\nNo previous professional bike mechanic experience is required.
