Within the product management team, our focus is on delivering 5* products to our owners and delighting them on every journey. The role:

This role is a strategic product management role focused on maximising our existing bike models and driving new bike products to market as part of a wider roadmap.

Responsibilities of the role:

  • Shape and execute the product strategy on bikes; aligning the company mission, objectives and product roadmap to make 5-star products that are commercially viable.

  • Work closely with design and engineering teams to develop strong product propositions, and deliver a clear, competitive specification on each bike as part of the end-to-end product development process. The role will define user needs, product attributes and requirements and help shape key decisions on product specification and trade-offs required.

  • Heavily drive the business cases for new products including sales volumes, gross margin targets and help shape pricing across key projects - working closely with the commercial function on key metrics.

  • Monitor the market competitive landscape by assessing competitor products and strategies and identify opportunities for differentiation and market advantage and ensure we have the competitive edge with our customers.

  • Conduct market research and synthesise insights to identify and champion consumer needs, emerging trends and product strategies to win with the right consumers with the right products and specifications. This will include a deep understanding of the different local needs of markets across the globe.

  • Track and analyse key performance indicators for the product lines, such as sales performance, customer feedback, and market trends, and use insights to make data-driven decisions.

  • Risk management - Identify and manage risks throughout the product lifecycle, balancing trade-offs and anticipating potential roadblocks.

  • Own quarterly progress reports for their product line to senior stakeholders at Brompton including directors. Focus on product line growth and product KPIs.

  • Be the single source of truth on their project- owning the product documentation, specs and gate deliverables.

  • Own the Bike product range - managing the product lifecycle including decisions on delisting of products, change requests and updates to existing lines.

  • Support marketing and sales on new product go to market plans. Facilitate alignment between product, engineering, design, marketing, and sales teams to ensure successful product launches and lifecycle optimisation.

  • Work closely with marketing and category teams to shape the range and optimise the 5-year plan - driving the long-term volume forecast in coordination with business case development.

Skills, Attributes and Qualifications

  • Product management experience - on physical, consumer goods with a preference to sporting or cycling. Ideally in a global brand.

  • Commercial experience - with a focus on financials, pricing, volumes and GM/profit targets.

  • A proven track record in forecasting demand for new products; able to triangulate data and insights. Good analytical skills and methodical approach.

  • An understanding of insight methods, trends and market data - and able to create a compelling story to drive the right decisions throughout the product development cycle.

  • A strong communicator, able to effectively influence and collaborate with a range of stakeholders and able to take a concept, insight and data and tell a compelling story.

  • Resilient, self-motivated and able to work well under pressure. An independent thinker who takes delight in building products that are different, truly useful and enhance our users’ lives.

  • Passionate team player; entrepreneurial, and commercially savvy.

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as Business Administration, Product Design, Marketing, Engineering, or Product Management.

  • Proven experience (3+ years) in product management or a related role in a consumer goods sector.

  • Strong understanding of Powerpoint, Excel etc

Desirable Skills and Attributes:

  • Working in or with the China market.

  • Experience with physical and digital products.

  • Understanding and application of AI tools into product management.

  • A benefit would be a strong knowledge and passion for cycling, with a deep understanding of the cycling market, trends, and customer preferences would be beneficial.
