In all aspects of our work, we strive for the highest ethical and performance standards and are guided by the belief that people are to be treated with dignity and respect regardless of their present situation or past experiences.\nAcross our 60+ locations, we provide programs in a variety of service areas, including workforce development, children, youth, families, seniors and homeless prevention.\nRESPONSIBILITIES\nAssist Lead Teacher in maintaining records on each child’s progress and development for the purpose of planning and compliance with Head Start Standards. \nAssist Lead Teacher with the full implementation of performance standards, policies and procedures, regulations and guidelines in the day-to-day operation of an early childhood development center (3 years-5 years of age). \nAssist Lead Teacher in planning and implementing the daily program of activities based on principles of child development and in accordance with the program’s curriculum. \nAssist Lead Teacher in reviewing the progress of each child and developing written plans to promote each child’s growth and development based on assessment of skills, interests, and needs. \nMaintain a well-organized, safe and attractive classroom environment conducive to the growth and development of children. \nDevelop a positive relationship with each child and promote the development of self-esteem and self-discipline. \nAssist teacher in the full implementation of IEP’s and inclusion of children with disabilities and special needs. \nAssist the teacher with planning and implementing education field trips. \nAssist the teacher in conducting home visits and staff/parent conferences. \nParticipate in staff meetings, center activities, and staff development. \nResponsible for assisting Education Director and teacher in implementing parent involvement activities. \nPerform additional duties as assigned by manager.\nQUALIFICATIONS\nHigh School Diploma or equivalent credentials. \nCompletion of some college credits in Early Childhood Education Preferred.\nCDA or 15 credits hours in Early Childhood Education. \nTeacher Assistant Certification Preferred. \nOne year of prior teaching experience in Head Start and/or UPK program.\nBilingual English and Spanish language skills preferred. Strong oral and written communication, time management and organizational skills are necessary. \nProficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other standard business technology is . required. \nPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS\nAbility to use a computer for prolonged periods.\nAbility to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. \nAbility to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time. \nAbility to climb five flights of stairs, if required to conduct home visits and/or fieldwork. \nAbility to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents.\nAbility to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation. \nAbility to travel for a minimum of i mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather, including inclement weather, if required to conduct home visits and/or field work.\nBronxWorks is an equal opportunity employer committed to an inclusive workplace.
