As part of the team, the Sr. Designer, Product Development plays a key role in new model development and existing model enhancements, driving design solutions from concept through execution using predominantly Revit and AutoCAD software. This is a hands-on design role for a curious, independent, and motivated designer who will own space planning and structural design decisions and bring innovative thinking to every model, helping Brookfield Residential become the recognized product leader in the Calgary market.\n Key Responsibilities:\nDrive concept development and project manage new models from initial concepting through to sales release, working with key stakeholders across the operations team.\n\nComplete new concept files using AutoCAD or Revit, adhering to internal Design Guidelines and Calgary Bylaws.\n\nCreate drawings for blacklines, floor plans, sections, pre-planned options, applying strong space planning to optimize every square foot for livability, buildability, and market appeal.\n\nCoordinate and review with Architectural Controls to ensure drawings meet requirements.\n\nCoordinate with trade partners and internal teams and engineering to develop efficient, constructible structural solutions (framing, floor, and roof systems), and bring innovative thinking in regard to new model standards and efficiencies.\n\nShow Homes and Prototypes: Review & discuss onsite construction issues as they arise (framing, engineering, floor and roof layouts, finishing, electrical) and drive changes when required.\n\nManage contractor coordination by establishing drawing guidelines, providing architectural control direction, reviewing concepts, and issuing drawing markups.\n\nComplete master working drawings for new elevations and plan options using Revit software for existing model database.\n\nAttend scheduled meetings including but not limited to operations meetings, Sales/Construction meetings, product development meetings and framing walkthroughs.\n\nContinuous exploration of methods to improve business practice and process, including recommending improvements based on evaluation of current business model where opportunities for improvement exist.\n\nEncourage collaborative working environment for high team member engagement and positive working environment.\n\nParticipate in and provide training as needed to others (new team members, Sales, Construction, and Estimating) with respect to Product Development department procedures and areas of responsibility.\n\nSupport the ongoing maintenance of our design guidelines, drawing standards, procedures documentation, and reference library.\n\nLiaise with municipal officials regarding building code, bylaw, and application questions or concerns.\n\nMaintain positive relationships with industry officials, trades partners and suppliers.\n\nKeep current on Alberta building code, bylaw and industry changes.
