Within PPQM, the Quality Management Office (QMO) works with line organizations on developing and delivering programs, activities, and services that integrate quality assurance, environmental, and safety management principles throughout the Laboratory. Deployed Quality Representatives work closely with their assigned organizations to provide quality assurance functions tailored to the organization and serve as a liaison back to the QMO.\nPOSITION DESCRIPTION:\nThe Quality Management Office (QMO) at Brookhaven National Laboratory is seeking a self-starter to join their team as a deployed Quality Representative. As Quality Representative, you will apply standard quality assurance and quality control practices and techniques in specific aspects of design, procurement, manufacture, test, and initial operation. In this role, you will work with colleagues to support the implementation of quality assurance and quality control methods on projects and processes. Activities include planning, performing, and documenting assessments of processes against requirements; support the implementation of corrective action plans, analyzing performance data, performing supplier reviews and selections and incoming inspections, managing calibration programs, and developing and reviewing procedures.\nThis position will directly support the Accelerator Division (AD) within the Fundamental Interactions and Particles Directorate. The mission of the Accelerator Division is to develop, enhance, and operate the Directorate's suite of particle and heavy-ion accelerators, providing the operational stewardship, technical expertise, and infrastructure management needed to sustain world-class performance and operate the accelerator complex for decades of reliable operation in support of the EIC scientific mission at Brookhaven National Laboratory.\n\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities:\nAssist the AD in implementing BNL’s Quality Assurance Program (QAP).\nProvide support to the organization’s assessment plan development and its management, Including assessment of AD procedures and BNL’s QAP.\nProvide input on the conduct of assessments, reporting and evaluation of assessment results.\nAssist with or conduct causal analyses, and extent of condition/cause evaluations.\nProvide corrective action management, including the timely development and implementation of effective corrective action plans,provide independent verification of corrective action implementation resulting from internal and external assessments, causal analysis, and surveillances.\nReview procurement requisitions to ensure proper flow down of quality requirements\nPerform supplier evaluations, address suppliers’ nonconformances, audit suppliers, and support the performance incoming inspection/testing and acceptance.\nReview/approval of technical documents (e.g. drawings, engineering change requests, statements of work, specifications, procedures) to ensure appropriate quality requirements have been addressed.\nRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:\nBachelor’s degree in engineering or scientific discipline or closely related field of study.\nA minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in quality assurance and/ or quality control methods.\nKnowledge of basic quality assurance and quality control methods.\nExcellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills required to interact with a diverse group of engineers, scientists and technical staff.\nAbility to work in a matrix organization, both individually and on multi-disciplinary teams.\nCore skills include organizational and time management, ability to gather information and resourcefulness in resolving problems.\nAbility to work independently, make informed decisions, and exercise a high degree of discretion and judgement.\nDesire and ability to learn new systems.\nProficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint).\nThe ability to perform field surveillances (walking distances of more than ¼ mile), ability to be in areas of magnetic fields more than 5 gauss and work in radiologically controlled areas.\nPreferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:\nSeven (7) years relevant work experience.\nKnowledge of, or training/ certification in specific quality standards or skills (e.g., ISO9001, NQA-1, ASQ Certification, Auditing). \nWork or research in a science-based organization.\nProficiency with Adobe and MS Visio.\nAdditional Information:\nThis position is eligible for consideration of a flexible work arrangement (hybrid on-site 4 days/work-from-home 1 day).\nBrookhaven National Laboratory is committed to providing fair, equitable and competitive compensation. This is a multi-level role and the full salary range for this position is $100,600 - $161,000/ year. You will be placed at the level and salary commensurate with your experience.
