Join us at Brooks Automation and be a part of a dynamic organization that is shaping the future of technology.\nCost EngineerJob Description\nThe NPI Supply Chain Cost Estimating Engineer will support the Semiconductor\nAutomation SupplyChain team as the lead cost engineer for both new and legacy product. This position will provide cost estimates and comparison cost for the value of machined and fabricated goods that are provided by the supply chain.\nKey Responsibilities:\nDetermine the cost estimate targets during the design and development process, recommending cost effective solutions.\nUtilize cost methodologies, tools, and appropriate software models and packages to prepare and maintain reliable and accurate data.\nTransforms product costing through continuous improvement of systems, methods, and procedures.\nWill collect and analyze initial data information to estimate cost associated with manufacturing a machined or fabricated product.\nEnsure supplier quotations meet “should cost” estimates.\nSupport supplier meetings and negotiations to challenge quotation and direct cost reductions to meet target costs.\nGather proposals, specifications, and other related documents from design engineering to convert specifications to cost estimates for new and current products.\nSupports the quote process, ensure quote accuracy, quality, compliance with Brooks Automations goals, responsiveness, and rapid turn-around time of quotes.\nLeads others by supporting and executing all related processes and procedures.\nTrain, mentor, and provides software modeling support to regions, sites and/or individuals for costing procedures and processes.\nProvide cost estimates during change process and advise of cost impact of changes.\nProvide costing / pricing support, and leadership to sites and/or other functional groups or regions as required.\nMay provide technical support for DFs (design for all desirable manufacturability) including reviewing engineering changes and assessment of materials/supply chain impact.\nReview request for information (RFI) and management's requirements to model cost and simulate pricing\n Required Skills:\n5+ years of experience in cost estimating.\nStrong background with mechanical commodities (sheet-metal, precision machining, welding, plastics, injection molding, casting, brazing) with ability to read and interpret technical documents including drawings, blueprints, product specifications, material tolerances, finish specifications. Understanding of GD&T and mechanical industry workmanship standards.\nDemonstrated strong analytical, negotiation and communication skills.\nCustomer-focused, self-motivated with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks with minimal direction, ability to drive initiatives and programs with unclear initial definition.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills, working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project.\nKnowledge of cost methodologies and software modeling tools.
