Our products enable ultra-clean, high-reliability wafer handling and process automation in some of the world’s most advanced fabs.\nBrooks Automation is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Vacuum Systems Design Engineering team. In this role, you will support the design, analysis, and validation of vacuum chambers, frames, robots, pumping interfaces, and critical sub-systems that operate in high- and ultra-high-vacuum environments. This position provides hands-on engineering experience and mentorship from industry experts in vacuum technology, robotics, and semiconductor automation.\nWHAT YOU'LL DO:\nAssist in the design and development of vacuum chambers, frames, subassemblies, vacuum and nitrogen lines and precision mechanical components.\nCreate and update 3D CAD models, drawings, and assemblies using Creo. \nRelease 2D Drawings, Assembly Drawings, and Manufacturers parts.\nPerform engineering calculations and basic analysis including Structural, Modal, O-ring Compression. \nSupport system builds.\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams (mechanical, electrical, controls, manufacturing, and systems engineering) to ensure seamless system integration. \nParticipate in Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), BOM creation, and configuration management within a PLM system (Agile).\nProvide engineering support throughout the product lifecycle-from early concept design to final production release and shipment.\nPerform and contribute to Design Reviews, Peer Reviews, and Concept Reviews.\nWHAT YOU'LL BRING:\nBachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline. \nSolid understanding of engineering fundamentals such as statics, dynamics, thermodynamics, materials science, and mechanical design.\nExperience with 3D CAD software (Creo preferred). \nUnderstanding of mechanical drawings and GD&T. \nStrong analytical skills and attention to detail.\nAbility to work collaboratively in a team-based environment.\nEffective communication and documentation skills. \n Preferred Qualifications:Coursework, internship, or hands-on experience with vacuum systems, such as:High or ultra-high vacuum chambers.\nVacuum pumps (turbo, roughing, cryo). \nO-ring and metal sealing interfaces. \nCleanroom or contamination-controlled environments. \n\nFamiliarity with:Vacuum gauges and instrumentation. \nMaterial selection for vacuum/thermal compatibility. \nSemiconductor equipment or automation systems.\n\nExposure to PLM systems and engineering change workflows.\n\nCompensation\nBase Salary Range: $76,526.52 USD to $103,535.88 USDFactors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.\nThis position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.\nBenefits\nAt Brooks, we offer the following benefits for this position, subject to applicable eligibility requirements:\nMedical, Dental, Vision and Disability Insurance\n\n401(k) Plan\n\nExempt employees are provided company paid holidays and Flexible Vacation to enjoy personal time off and incidental sickness.\n\nHave a question about our benefits and compensation package?
