The Planning Manager is responsible for leading and integrating Production Planning and Materials Planning activities to ensure uninterrupted manufacturing operations, inventory optimization, customer delivery performance, and business growth. This role serves as the primary owner of demand-to-supply alignment, capacity planning, material readiness, production scheduling, and inventory management across Brooks Automation Malaysia.\nThe Planning Manager will establish and execute planning strategies that balance customer demand, manufacturing capacity, inventory investment, and supplier capabilities while driving world-class planning processes, ERP discipline, and operational excellence.\nThe position plays a key leadership role within the Supply Chain organization and collaborates closely with Manufacturing, Procurement, Engineering, Quality, Logistics, Program Management, and Global Planning teams.\nWork Location: ONSITE - Pasir Gudang, Johor Bahru\nKey Responsibilities:\nPlanning Leadership & Team Management\nLead and develop the Production Planning and Materials Planning teams.\nEstablish planning KPIs, performance objectives, and succession plans.\nDrive a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and customer focus.\nCoach and mentor planners to strengthen supply chain competencies.\nProduction Planning\nOwn and manage the Master Production Schedule (MPS) to meet customer commitments and revenue targets.\nDevelop finite and infinite capacity plans to support business growth and operational efficiency.\nReview demand fluctuations, backlog, forecast changes, and production constraints.\nEnsure timely creation, release, and management of production work orders.\nDrive production schedule adherence and manufacturing execution performance.\nLead recovery plans for production delays and capacity bottlenecks.\nCoordinate factory loading strategies and manpower requirements with Manufacturing leadership.\nMaterials Planning\nEnsure uninterrupted supply of materials to support production requirements.\nManage material availability, CTB (Clear-to-Build), shortages, excess and obsolete inventory.\nEstablish inventory stocking policies, safety stock strategies, and replenishment models.\nLead escalation management for supplier shortages, long lead-time risks, and allocation situations.\nOptimize inventory investment while maintaining required service levels.\nWork closely with Procurement, Sourcing and Global Commodity Management (GCM) teams on supplier performance and risk mitigation.\nNPI & Product Transfer Support\nSupport New Product Introduction (NPI), site transfers, and production ramps.\nDevelop material readiness and production ramp plans.\nCoordinate planning activities with Engineering, Program Management, and Sourcing teams.\nAssess supply chain readiness and identify risks impacting program schedules.\nSupport localization and supplier transition initiatives.\nERP, Systems & Process Management\nDrive best practices in Oracle ERP, MRP, Planning and Scheduling systems.\nEnsure accurate planning master data, BOM structures, lead times, planning parameters, and inventory settings.\nDevelop planning dashboards and analytics for management decision-making.\nDrive process standardization and digitalization initiatives.\nEnsure compliance with Brooks QMS procedures and planning controls.\nStakeholder & Escalation Management\nServe as the primary escalation point for supply-demand imbalances.\nPartner with Manufacturing, Procurement, Logistics, Quality, Engineering and Commercial teams.\nPresent planning performance, risks, and mitigation plans to senior management.\nCommunicate proactively with global planning and supply chain teams.\nQualifications & Experience:\nBachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, Operations Management, or related discipline.\nAt least 10 - 12 years of supply chain, planning, or manufacturing operations experience with a minimum of 5 years of leadership experience managing planners.\nAPICS/ASCM CPIM, CSCP, or equivalent certification preferred.\nExperience in semiconductor capital equipment, electronics manufacturing preferred\nStrong understanding of SIOP, MRP, inventory management, capacity planning, and supply chain optimization.\nKey Competencies:\nTechnical\nDemand Planning, Production Planning, Materials Planning, Inventory Management, Capacity Planning, SIOP/IBP, Oracle ERP / MRP, Supply Chain Analytics, NPI Planning, Risk Management\nLeadership\nStrategic Thinking, People Development, Change Management, Decision Making, Stakeholder Management, Cross-Functional Leadership, Problem Solving, Communication & Influence\n#LI-MV1\n#LI-Onsite\nWork Location & Flexibility\nAt Brooks, we aim to foster a collaborative and engaging environment while offering flexibility where possible.
