This roleprincipally involves carrying out routine tasks, solving elementary problems, and learning and applying fundamentalskills and knowledge in geology, hydrogeology, geochemistry, and geophysics. The role is carried out under the close supervision and guidance of experienced colleagues and supervisors.\nResponsibilities\nAssist in field investigations, including water and soil sampling.\nAssist with basic well logging and field data collection tasks in a supervised setting.\nHelp in the examination and interpretation of geological, hydrogeological, geophysical, and geochemical data.\nFollow all safety protocols and procedures related to the role.\nMaintain and update data logs of all performed tasks.\nFlexibility to adapt and execute various additional assignments based on evolving needs.\nSkills and Competencies\nBasic understanding of geology, hydrogeology, geophysics, and geochemistry.\nProficiency in using sampling equipment.\nBasic analytical skills to interpret geological data and information.\nBasic proficiency in using software and tools associated with geological studies.\nExperience\nTypically, a minimum of 0-3 years of related work experience in geology and hydrogeology or related field.\nEducation\nA bachelor’s degree in geology, hydrogeology, or related field, or equivalent experience is required.\nPreferred Qualifications\nProficiency in using standard computer programs (i.e., MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook); experience with MS Project, MS Access, AutoCad, ArcGIS, and/or boring log software (e.g., BoreDM) a plus.\nStrong desire and be motivated to obtain a Geologist-in-Training certification then Registered Professional Geologist licensure within 3-5 years.\nCapable of working in a team environment and handling multiple tasks with competing priorities.\nHighly organized, reliable, and able to work both independently, and to work well with others \nSelf-starter, results-oriented, reliable, and able to work well with a wide variety of coworkers and subcontractors.\nCapability to safely and routinely operate pumps, hand tools, and power tools in a field environment, including the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues as they arise.\nStrong verbal communication and technical writing skills.\nWillingness and ability to travel up to approximately 65-90% with the increased travel during the peak field seasons.\nWilling to do field work for the first few years of employment\nValid driver’s license and good driving record.\nAbility to wear required safety equipment at sites potentially including air purifying respirators, fire retarded clothing, hard hats, steel toed boots (or other approved toe protection), safety glasses, etc. \n40-hour HAZWOPER certification and/or MSHA training a plus.\nAbility to work for short periods of time in extreme temperatures including heat and cold.\nAbility to stand for several hours observing and documenting critical drilling and construction operations.\nAbility to operate a BC pickup truck/rental/personal vehicle to commute to jobsites and to access work areas on site.\nAbility to work safely (i.e. alert and vigilant) around construction equipment and be able to walk swiftly for a short distance to exit an area where a potential hazard is identified.\nAbility to climb stairs (2-3 flights) or ladders (up to 24-foot typically) to access structures for visual inspection.\nSalary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee’s primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education.
