In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain scalable business-critical applications that support key operational and client-facing functions across the firm. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including product owners, architects, and engineers to build reliable, high-performing distributed systems. This role requires strong technical problem-solving skills, a commitment to engineering quality, and the ability to contribute to architecture discussions and technical decision-making. This position is well suited for an engineer who enjoys building robust backend systems, improving platform reliability, and contributing to modern software development practices in a highly collaborative environment.\nIn our team, you will be responsible for:\nDesign, develop, and maintain scalable Java-based applications and services.\nContribute to the design and development of distributed systems and microservice architecture\nWrite clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following established engineering standards.\nDevelop automated tests and participate in continuous integration workflows.\nConduct code reviews and contribute to improving engineering best practices.\nCollaborate closely with engineers, architects, and business stakeholders to deliver technical solutions.\nParticipate in architecture and design discussions, providing thoughtful technical input.\nIdentify and address issues related to performance, scalability, reliability, and security.\nSupport CI/CD automation and help improve deployment and development workflows.\nTroubleshoot production issues using logs, metrics, and monitoring tools.\nWhat we’re looking for:\n8+ years of hands-on experience with Java in an enterprise environment.\nStrong expertise with Spring / Spring Boot or similar Java frameworks, REST API development, and backend services.\nSolid understanding of software engineering principles and design patterns.\nExperience working with SQL and relational databases, with experience in query optimization.\nExperience contributing to distributed systems or service-based architectures.\nFamiliarity with automated testing frameworks and CI/CD practices.\nStrong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a collaborative engineering environment.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.\nNice to have:\nExperience with event-driven architectures or messaging platforms (e.g., Kafka).\nFamiliarity with containerization and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes or OpenShift.\nExperience working with API development and testing tools (Postman, OpenAPI).\nExperience with web servers and application infrastructure (nginx, Apache).\nExperience optimizing application performance and troubleshooting distributed systems.\nFamiliarity with secure software development practices.\nExperience interpreting system logs, metrics, and monitoring dashboards.\nWhat we offer:\nTo encourage cultural awareness and philanthropy, BBHers have 1 Culture Celebration Day and 1 Community Service Day in addition to their paid standard vacation allowance\nPrivate medical care\nLife Insurance\nEmployee Assistance Program - offering independent and confidential counselling services for you and your family.
