At Nicolet National Bank, we believe that our people are our most valuable asset, and we are committed to investing in their growth and development.\nThe Automation Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, deploying, and supporting scalable automation solutions that improve operational efficiency, reduce manual effort, strengthen controls, and improve business processes across Nicolet.\nThis role partners with business analysts, subject matter experts, and technology teams to understand business requirements and determine the most appropriate automation approach, such as APIs, system integrations, workflow automation, RPA, data pipelines, or native application capabilities. The Automation Engineer applies sound engineering practices to translate validated requirements into well-designed, supportable, and secure automation solutions.\nAs an Automation Engineer, you will:\nDesign, develop, test, deploy, and support scalable automation solutions across enterprise applications and business processes, managing each solution throughout its lifecycle, including enhancements, dependencies, technical debt, platform upgrades, and retirement.\nAssess automation opportunities identified by product owners, subject matter experts, and business partners, providing technical feasibility, level of effort, and risk input to support prioritization decisions.\nPartner with product owners and subject matter experts to review and clarify business requirements, confirm process and data details, and validate that proposed automation designs meet business needs before development begins.\nEvaluate solution alternatives including APIs, integrations, workflow automation, RPA, and native system capabilities to select maintainable and scalable approaches.\nIntegrate automations with enterprise applications and data platforms using APIs, SQL, Snowflake, Alteryx, and other appropriate technologies.\nEstablish and maintain automation engineering standards covering architecture, source control, documentation, testing, peer review, CI/CD, deployment, monitoring, and lifecycle management in coordination with the Nicolet development team.\nMonitor production automations, troubleshoot failures, manage exceptions, perform root cause analysis, and improve reliability and performance.\nDevelop reusable automation components, integrations, frameworks, and design patterns to improve consistency and accelerate delivery.\nEnsure automations adhere to information security, access management, data protection, audit, change management, business continuity, and regulatory requirements.\nPartner with application, infrastructure, security, data, and support teams to ensure solutions are documented and can be effectively supported.\nEvaluate emerging automation capabilities and recommend opportunities to improve the bank's automation platform and engineering practices.\nUphold Nicolet’s philosophy and policies by maintaining appropriate controls to ensure full compliance with applicable laws and regulations, thereby fulfilling legal responsibilities and enhancing the quality of services provided by Nicolet.\nUnderstand and communicate the value of diversity within the workplace and to work successfully with others without regard to age, gender, race, sexual orientation, ethnicity, culture, religion, disability status, socioeconomic status or other non-job-related classification, including a commitment to Nicolet’s policies on equal employment opportunities and non-discrimination with a willingness to pursue efforts of inclusion and respect toward different perspectives.\nPerforms all other duties as assigned.\nSupervisory Responsibilities:\nThis position is initially an individual contributor role with the potential to evolve into technical leadership or direct supervisory responsibility as Nicolet's automation program grows.\nQualifications:\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.\n4+ years of experience developing and supporting enterprise automation, RPA, workflow or integration solutions.\nHands-on experience with automation platforms such as UiPath and Microsoft Power Automate.\nExperience establishing automation development, quality assurance, or governance standards preferred.\nFinancial services or other regulated-industry experience preferred.\nKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, and process-design skills, including the ability to translate business requirements into sound automation designs.\nProficiency with enterprise automation technologies, preferably UiPath and/or Microsoft Power Automate.\nExperience integrating automation solutions with enterprise applications, APIs, databases, and data platforms.\nWorking knowledge of SQL and data integration concepts, with exposure to data platforms.\nUnderstanding of SDLC, source control, CI/CD, automated testing, and release management practices.\nUnderstanding of automation architecture, exception handling, monitoring, logging, and production support.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to elicit and clarify requirements from subject matter experts and to explain technical options to non-technical audiences.\nAbility to maintain strict confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive information.\nBenefits:\nMedical, Dental, Vision, & Life Insurance\n401(k) with a company match\nPTO & 11 1/2 Paid Holidays\nThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed.
