We are looking for a Senior Manager Project Procurement & Cost Engineering Direct Material (m/f/d) at our location in Ettlingen.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Manager Project Procurement & Cost Engineering you will:

  • Lead and develop the global team of Project Buyers and Material Engineers supporting BBIO projects.
  • Establish BBIO-wide procurement support for development, transfer, localization, and product introduction projects.
  • Ensure early supplier involvement to improve product cost, manufacturability, availability, and project speed.
  • Lead cross-functional Design-to-Cost and Value Engineering initiatives in close collaboration with R&D, Engineering, Operations, and strategic suppliers.
  • Identify and implement design changes, material substitutions, and technical alternatives that reduce product cost while maintaining required quality and performance standards.
  • Develop and maintain should-cost models and cost breakdown analyses to improve negotiation effectiveness and product competitiveness.
  • Support Engineering in evaluating commercial impacts of design decisions and technical changes.
  • Identify and mitigate procurement-related project and supply chain risks through design adaptations, supplier diversification, and alternative sourcing concepts.
  • Collaborate with Commodity Management to leverage supplier innovation and market intelligence for cost and risk reduction opportunities.
  • Ensure timely supplier nomination and sourcing activities for all NPI, transfer, and redesign projects.
  • Ensure procurement readiness for product launches, transfers, and ramp-up activities.
  • Track and report KPIs related to cost reduction, value engineering, project milestones, sourcing progress, supply chain risk mitigation, and procurement contribution to business results.
  • Track and report project procurement KPIs including cost, timing, risk, and sourcing progress.

Qualifications

Ideally, you bring the following qualifications:

  • Master's degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field, ideally complemented by additional training in Supply Chain Management, Negotiation, or Project Management.
  • 9 to 12 years of relevant professional experience, including significant leadership responsibility within an international procurement, project management, or engineering environment.
  • Excellent English language skills (C2), native-level German language proficiency, and optional French language skills (A1); able to communicate effectively in an international business environment.
  • Strong expertise in SAP (advanced level) and excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including modern AI-enabled productivity tools.
  • Solid experience in Project Management and Change Management, combined with outstanding negotiation skills and commercial acumen.
  • Highly analytical and solution-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently, take ownership, and proactively drive initiatives to completion.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions, manage conflicts constructively, and provide and receive feedback professionally.
  • Resilient, adaptable, and results-driven personality with strong teamwork skills and the ability to perform effectively in dynamic and demanding business environments.
