About BS Technologies

BS Technologies PLC is an Ethiopian technology company developing and operating digital solutions that modernize transport, parking, logistics and related services. The company currently operates multiple ongoing projects, including bus management and ticketing systems, parking management, digital transport payment, intercity transport technology, freight/logistics platforms and vehicle monitoring solutions.

Position Summary

The General Manager / Managing Director will serve as the overall operational and executive head of BS Technologies, responsible for ensuring that the company operates efficiently, professionally, profitably and in accordance with the strategic direction established by the Founders.

This is a senior leadership position for an individual who can operate with an ownership mindset. The successful candidate must be capable of taking responsibility for the company’s overall performance, making timely decisions, leading teams, managing projects, developing business opportunities, maintaining strategic relationships and building systems that allow the company to grow without excessive dependence on the Founders.

The General Manager is expected to act as the central point of leadership and accountability for the day-to-day management of the company.

Key Responsibilities

1.  Overall Company Management

• Lead and manage the overall operations of BS Technologies.
• Translate the Founders’ vision and strategic direction into practical company plans.
• Ensure all departments and projects work toward common objectives.
• Establish clear organizational structures, responsibilities and reporting lines.
• Develop and maintain a culture of accountability, professionalism, innovation and performance.
• Identify operational weaknesses and implement corrective measures.
• Ensure the company operates efficiently and sustainably.

2.  Project & Operations Management

• Oversee the performance of all company projects and operational units.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and according to agreed standards.
• Monitor project profitability, staffing, operational challenges and client satisfaction.
• Ensure project managers and department heads have clear targets and accountability.
• Establish systems for regular project reporting and performance monitoring.
• Intervene when projects face major operational, financial or organizational challenges.

BS Technologies currently manages projects across transport, parking, logistics and vehicle-monitoring activities, requiring the GM to effectively manage multiple operations simultaneously.

3.  Financial & Commercial Management

• Work closely with Finance to monitor company revenue, expenditure, cash flow and profitability.
• Review budgets and financial performance regularly.
• Control unnecessary expenditure and improve operational efficiency.
• Ensure projects have sustainable revenue models.
• Monitor receivables, payments and contractual obligations.
• Participate in major commercial negotiations.
• Ensure proper financial controls are maintained.

4.  Business Development & Growth

• Identify new business opportunities and strategic markets.
• Lead major business development initiatives.
• Develop relationships with government institutions, private companies, investors, partners and clients.
• Support the expansion of existing products and services.
• Evaluate potential partnerships, contracts and projects.
• Represent BS Technologies in high-level business meetings when required.

5.  Government & Strategic Stakeholder Relations

• Maintain strong professional relationships with government institutions and strategic partners.
• Represent the company in senior-level meetings when delegated by the Founders.
• Ensure compliance with government requirements and contractual obligations.
• Coordinate major institutional engagements across projects.

6.  Human Resources & Leadership

• Build a high-performing management team.
• Participate in recruitment of senior employees.
• Set performance expectations and KPIs.
• Conduct regular performance reviews with department/project heads.
• Address performance, discipline and organizational issues.
• Develop leadership within the company and establish succession plans.
• Ensure the company has the right people in the right positions.

7.  Systems & Organizational Development

• Develop professional systems, policies and procedures.
• Reduce dependency on individual employees through proper systems and documentation.
• Establish clear reporting and accountability structures.
• Introduce appropriate management dashboards and performance indicators.
• Continuously improve company processes.

8.  Decision-Making & Problem Solving

The GM will have authority to make day-to-day operational decisions within the authority delegated by the Founders.

The GM is expected to:

• Take initiative without waiting for instructions on routine matters.
• Identify problems before they become crises.
• Make evidence-based decisions.
• Escalate major strategic, financial or reputational matters to the Founders.
• Take responsibility for decisions and outcomes.

Authority & Accountability

The General Manager will have significant authority over the day-to-day management of the company, subject to the strategic, financial and governance authority of the Founders.

The GM will be fully accountable to the Founders for the overall performance of BS Technologies.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

Education

• Master’s degree preferred.
• MBA, Business Administration, Management, Economics, Engineering, Technology, Computer Science or a related field preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree required.

Experience

• Minimum 8 years of professional experience preferred.
• Minimum 5 years in a senior management or leadership position.
• Demonstrated experience managing teams, budgets, projects and business operations.
• Experience managing multiple departments or business units is highly desirable.
• Experience in technology, transport, logistics, fintech, infrastructure or government-related projects is an advantage.
